There are currently 43 quests (including the upcoming Going Postal (WIP and TBA) quest).

For a better look in a digestible way for users and the Jagex team to look at the quests and miniquests that would be proposed F2P content. In other words, TLDR for quests:

A. Easy to implement

1. All Fired Up
2. Enter the Abyss.
3. Rag and Bone Man
4. Recruitment Drive
5. Rune Memories
6. What Lies Below
7. Buyer and Cellars

B. Extension of skills or areas for quest

1. Jungle Potion
2. The Lost Tribe
3. Lost City
4. Tears of Guthix

C. Quests need either skill level or quest requirement tweaked or changed with extensions of skill and area in mind.

1. The Dig Site
2. Death to the Dorgeshuun
3. Enlightened Journey
4. Family Crest
5. Heroes' Quest
6. Quiet Before The Swarm
7. Rune Mechanics

D. Major reworks or refresh quests that will fit in the F2P expansion

None as of so far.

Total number for all quest including upcoming would be 61 quests.

Support. I just wish the suits in Jagex could see the value in actually adding these updates to F2P.
Thanks and same.

I agree as well.

After all, any improvements to F2P can be enjoyed by all players, even visiting members.

Everyone should want a vibrant and fun F2P. That is where most new members are going to come from. These players will enjoy the free game experience, and are more likely to be excited to see what P2P has to offer.

Conversely, if a new player joins up and decides your free game is just a cheap demo littered with adverts, are they going to be as likely to stick and think, "Well, I guess I will buy a membership to see if this game still sucks." or are they more likely to decide the game sucks, then move on to find a different game? I know I would leave.

One of the main reasons I signed up here a couple of years back was because the F2P RuneScape experience is more than a demo. It is a full game with an optional membership expansion. Sometimes it seems as though Jagex conveniently forgets membership is optional, not necessary.
I've been putting out fire with gasoline! ^_^

I think the main issue is just getting through to the marketing team that it's in the business interest of the company to make F2P the best it can be, when viewed from the perspective of a trial. It probably has to come from multiple senior designers/developers simultaneously in a meeting pitch, as players are the product.

The developers can leverage the fact that the producers view the free game as an advertisement for membership. Because understanding why people continue playing is vital for revenue, those involved in marketing can be reasoned with as long as they recognise the expertise of those in other departments. As long as there are enough competent employees in marketing, the situation can be improved.

Jagex...has an advertising department? O_o :P

Hehe, I am kidding, Seasons Past. Well, to an extent. The truth is I have been here just a few years, although I have been gaming for quite some time. I happened upon this game by accident. TBH, I do not recall seeing any advertisements for RS at all, until the occasional ad would appear in my FB feed after I had already signed up here.

I get what you are saying, although I would not consider players to be the product. We are the consumers. The game is the product.

You are so right in regards to the importance of retaining players. Given the sheer number of choices competing for the attention of players, combined with the convenience of mobile apps, I would say keeping players happy and loyal - convincing them to return regularly - is more important now than it ever has been.

This is why actions like last week's bugged graphical update which needlessly denied F2P from accessing popular combat content, really confounds me. Why go out of your way to earn the wrath of your players? It is idiotic!

I have to wonder just how many of these decision-makers actually play this game. I suspect not enough of them. If more of them played, most likely they would develop a better appreciation of the players' perspective.

Update 21/11/23

Organisation
-Updated table of contents with link to Noctis King's list of quests that can be made F2P (post 1)

Proposed F2P access to the following:

Lumbridge & Draynor

Mage Training Arena (post 5)
-Teleportation via the progress hat (originally proposed for the traveller's necklace)
- Rune Mechanics quest
* Construction skill requirement lifted
* Binding necklace and combination runes (originally suggested on post 7)

Zanaris (post 6)
-Unlocked as a new destination for the traveller's necklace, taking players to just north of the otherworldly beings
* This location is conveniently situated between the bank and fairy ring
* Would help F2P players to return to Zanaris quickly, as they still wouldn’t have access to fairy rings

Varrock & Wilderness

Praying for Chaos, Part 1 (post 7)
-Abbey of St. Elspeth added as a destination for the enlightened amulet

Ok, I have updated the quest lists.

Blamish oil needs a snail and a sample bottle. Snails are exclusively in Mort Myre Swamp, and sample bottles are in two places: Rasolo Wandering Merchant and Canafis. Both items to create blamish oil are in P2P areas. I suggest either creating a new snail type (maybe for hunting) or using one of the existing snails to be in the Lumbridge swamps. I am not sure if summoning the spirit snail should be F2P, as beasts of burden abilities make sense to be members.

Solution: either move the wandering merchant into the F2P area or have an NPC give the sample bottle.

For Wilderness Sword 1, some sword rewards need to be promoted to the higher version of Sword 2. I think locating WildWyrms should be only for P2P since we can't battle weaker LavaWyrms, which require a high slayer level. The Hellfire Bow Locator should be unlocked in Wilderness Sword 2. Or another option would make the locaters disabled. I hope a reward will accommodate Wilderness Sword 1. I suggest the teleported limit should be up to wilderness level 25.

The wands at the Mage Training Arena are hard to get and should be reworked. Credit goes to Rikornak. I suggest the wands may have the same special effect as a MindSpike staff. If the wand has air affinity, then it will have unlimited air-runes to cast. This would work nicely with the tome of frost as an alternative.

I've updated the relevant entries. Sample bottles would make sense as the base item for dyes and added to Crafting shops, as they are made of glass (and crafters dye things). Betty in Port Sarim owns a pet snail and would offer some blamish snail slime during Heroes' Quest. Betty is close to Gerrant's fishing shop, where players can buy a fishing rod. The Crafting shop in Rimmington is also nearby.

One of the Community Hitlist strikes removed Wilderness teleport restrictions for players opted out of PvP, so the restriction should only be a nuisance for PvP.

Proposed the following in response to feedback:

Asgarnia

-Sample bottles obtained from Crafting shops, glassblowing, and using or emptying dyes
-Blamish snail slime obtained from Betty in Port Sarim
* Betty owns a pet snail, as revealed during the quest Swept Away

Lumbridge & Draynor

Mage Training Arena (post 5)
-Wands given elemental alignment, like mindspike staves

Varrock & Wilderness

Edgeville Dungeon: Into the Wilderness (post 9)
-Locating the Hellfire Bow and WildyWyrm would require Medium Wilderness achievements (currently require Easy Wilderness)

Right now, a nice addition to F2P would be the ability for free players to open the purple presents we receive - as we were able to do prior to this year.

I dislike getting gifts I cannot open, bank, sell, or use.

You can buy XP. You can't buy experience.
"...From The 'Scape" is very nearly here.
