m8 you really cant deny that this is nothing but a mini game with progression added to it, to feel more skill like..... exactly like how dung was.. anyways i wont be voting in this poll.. since i'm torn between yes and no... unless they use sans ideas id vote yes for that

You clearly can't distinguish the difference between a skill and a mini-game. Dungeoneering was more mini-game base I would have to agree, but they did structure it like a skill poorly. It was basically a skill structured inside a mini-game. It was a mini-game because it was only in one part of the map and you earned tokens/points to buy rewards outside of the place. It was a skill because you had progression and unlockables as you gained levels inside of it. However, with sailing. It doesn't take place just in one area and it progresses with levels and new content at those levels. There is no point and reward system with it.

alright let me correct myself... sailing is indeed a skill but you have to do the sailing mini game to level it up

Personally I was hoping that this skill had more to offer...

To begin with, the sea is not considered to be the wild or a safe zone. It's the like the real world, where harming others has consequences: if you kill someone you become a pirate, and your ship's, which you name'd, name displays in a yellow (caution) if you continue (red), but if you're a friendly (green).

To attack others: You can take out other ships with your cannons...
OR swing over on to another ship or use a plank to get over; all using agility.

Consequences/ Risk to Reward ratio:
There would be a leaderboard for top pirate with a bounty on his or her head.

Moreover, instead of one person being on a boat, there would be a crew of people on a ship(friends or family, Idc.), and everyone would get shared experience and loots from the chests on the raided boat. BUT individual player kills will be rewarded to that who does the most damage.

For safe passage, people could go together with a fleet.

There is a reason why oldschool is oldschool.
Sailing is something for RS3, NOT for oldschool!
Why not add summoning and devination to it while you're at it*.

*Sarcasm.

What do you mean by 'Oldschool'? What makes a content fitting for 'oldschool'? Are you referring to only things we back then? IF SO, old school is long gone.

Old School now only refers to the graphics and the mechanics, cause the updates we have now surpass what we've had before..

So who are you to say what is old school and what isn't old school and what can be in old school and what needs to be in RS3.

So this is actually happening? At first I though this was some late april-fools joke.

I personally like the concept of sailing, although it's not what I came on oldschool for. I was ok with the new Kraken content etc, but now a new skill on oldschool is crossing the line of becoming something else… right?

You guys are doing the right thing letting players vote for content, but please stop ruining oldschool by adding/voting for new content. It's very deceiving advertising the game as oldschool. Please stop trying to take the game in a different way to how it used to be ?

Thanks!

Sorry my friend, but you are playing the wrong game. If you want to play a game that has no updates, then you might as well find a new game. This 'old school' server was brought back for the old graphics and the mechanics is has...THEN the players voted 'yes' on a poll for the game to get updates and move in a better direction than RS3 did... So guess what that means, it is now a game that the players can create content and move in a direction that we want it too...For those who don't want updates...well there is nothing you can really do now besides just to vote no but for those who are ready to make this game our game, can vote yes if they want this.

Noooooo, please. This doesn't follow the path/way rs2 would take. Rather than adding a skill no one wants, why not spend more time fixing lag issues , and banning the bots. #WePayWeSay

'No one wants' LMAO.... Where you been hiding? There's clearly a huge amount of people who want this...Obviously they are working on lag issues,DDoSing, and they ban thousands of bots a day...You must be a special kind of stupid.. Maybe you should get better internet to not lag anymore.

"The poll to bring back Old School Runescape was released on the 15th of February. Jagex announced that the more players that voted for the return, the more support it would get. The final result of 449,351 votes fell just short of the 500,000 target so Jagex CEO Mark Gerhard upgraded some elements of the service beyond the 250,000 vote level. This resulted in including the gradual addition of anti-botting technology and community polls to decide on any changes to the game to the support package."

So you see, the players didn't vote in polling (they were 10% short of what was needed) and MMG simply shoved it off on us anyway.

There was a poll on the actually website AFTER the release of Old School that talked about doing updates. Sorry dude, live with it.

Sorry girlfriend, but no proof so it didn't happen.

There was a poll IN FORUMS to determine what percentage to pass things in OSRS but the decision to poll things fell squarely on the clown they called MMG. You may not remember him cause he was gone before you started. LMAO

Just proof that you haven't been here since the beginning. Sorry bro, but move along. If you were here, you would remember the poll. Now go level your account and prepare for #sailing.

Someone says:
I just don't see me participating in this skill, never liked the idea of sailing and still don't. i really appreciate the hard work by all in this development i really do however i feel that maybe you could have come up with something a bit more original, sailing is played out it never made it for a reason.
:And if this happens to force me to use the skill it's no bueno!
