Here are a few changes i would like to see to make sailing fit oldschool more appropriately
-make ships sell for untradable currency that you can use to purchase rewards from a shop. This prevents sailing from bringing large amounts of gp into the game
-make cannons buyable from the shop or make cannon shards dropped by monsters (possibly drops for high level cannons only)
-make it so you can put up a listing for a job to transport goods/cargo for an NPC. You can then come back later to see if anybody wishes to commission you for the job. You would receive good payment for this based on the difficulty of the journey but could do it a few times per day (the number of times would be based on your sailing level)
-make different level looting chests for your ship buyable from the shop. The higher the level, the more it can store. Also allow you to bring multiple chests at higher sailing level. These chests would act just as a looting bag does but would sit on the deck of your ship as opposed to your inventory.
-make the ability to buy a crew for the untradable currency. They would be paid per voyage, they would also have ranks. A Higher ranked crew costs more and requires higher sailing level but will have less chance of crashing or messing up.
-add the ability to hire a saradomin priest for large sum of gp (he is not a member of the sailing community so will only accept gp as other currency is of no use to him) he will ward away evils from your ship (protect your ship from evil monsters).

In full support of the skill.

But I do want new planks, possibly they could be:
-Ash wood
-Red wood
-Spruce
-Hickory
-Walnut
-Hemlock
(just some examples)
And these trees will be found on new islands and places that we travel to. (the first boat we make will be just regular wood then)

Also adding in other new resources would be great aswell, maybe new gems, ores, and even new hunting areas.
Some of which could include:
Gems:
-Garnet
-Zircon
-Amethyst
-Tanzanite
-Peridot

Ores:
-Platinum
-Pyrite
-Basalt
-Marble

So this is actually happening? At first I though this was some late april-fools joke.

I personally like the concept of sailing, although it's not what I came on oldschool for. I was ok with the new Kraken content etc, but now a new skill on oldschool is crossing the line of becoming something else… right?

You guys are doing the right thing letting players vote for content, but please stop ruining oldschool by adding/voting for new content. It's very deceiving advertising the game as oldschool. Please stop trying to take the game in a different way to how it used to be ?

Thanks!

This would be the most appealing way to structure sailing in my opinion.

Construction should be required to build better boats that boost your experience rates while exploring. (like smithing a rune scimitar to get faster combat xp). If a player doesn't have the required construction level they should still be able purchase deeds to ships from other players who can create them.

Grinding through these random exploration events and exploring new areas would be a the fastest training method.

After you reach a desired level you unlock areas (which you do not need to grind through any random events to get to) that give resources/bonuses/newcontent for other skills, and often require that other related skill to be a certain level.

This absolutely sucks. Seriously, sailing has been something I have wanted in the game for so long and now I am going to vote no because you are going to fail at implementing it.

There is this thread which literally completely lays the skill out top to bottom and it sounds amazing and fun to train, not "a grind". Please Jagex read it and stop with this other nonsense.

Click here to read a good version of the sailing

Her version is actually good, and will be an amazing addition to the game.

I don't think I have been this excited for something in a while.

That being said, I know you need to pitch this idea to the community, but leave some things ambiguous please. I want to be surprised a bit by what I might encounter.

No more talking. POLL THE SKILL
