Towel Day? Who'd have thought it, eh?

I have many towels; hand, bath, sheets ... and those somewhat elderly ones with pulled threads and faded hue now reserved solely for doggie duties.

It makes me glad to my little soul to think they are all partying away in the airing cupboard, or (a bit sneakily) in the bathroom, or out in the lean-to where the doggie stuff lives, whooping it up and shaking their fluff and celebrating their utter and undeniable towelness.

The human race is one of the few races across the galaxy who only use towels to dry themselves (and one of the only to produce matrasses and other bed stuff themselves instead of hunting them in the Quornschale system). A towel is the most handy (and actually the only) tool a hitchhiker needs to travel the galaxy. It can be used as a weapon, you can store nutrients in it, you can use it to hide from the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal, use it as a cruse parachute, convince other people to give you a toothbrush or to mesure the distance you covered during a hyperjump.
Towel day is not a day for towels to rejoice, it is a day to remember how useful it is (and how stupid the human race can be) and, most importantly, to remember the late writer Douglas Adams to create such a wonderful universe for us to enjoy. Kings Eastwood in

It's basically The Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy day, just like may the fourth is Star Wars Day, but calling it The Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy day is too mainstream and straightforward, so people decided on Towel Day instead.
To celebrate, just have a towel with you. It's optional to also come in pyjama's and a bath robe and look very lost and a tad confused. Or have two heads and three arms. Or curse by saying 'belgium!' (that's where I'm from!). Or drink a pangalactic gargleblaster. Or demand to be the person you are. The posibilities are, just like the Restaurant at the End of the Universe, beyond the universe! I'm no doctor, but I really suggest for the health of the thread to keep it alive by chatting posting random thinsgs and griefing techniques more. I hate to see this awesome terribly aweful thread for the community not on page 1.

Also, stop giving it alcohol and the many burnings at the stake from the past may have had a bad influence on the lungs! The nukes you detonated also gave it radiation sickness. I specialise in looking a tad lost and confused. It comes in particularly useful in queues, when I wander ... harmlessly ... to the front.

Who would be mean enough to challenge a slightly lost and confused old biddy?
