It doesnt hurt anyone, weve gone through this numerous times.
Yes thats an extremely bad example, its nothing like that in the slightest
Still, is it really fair to automatically assume that every free player is a troll, and punish even the ones who have done nothing wrong? It'd be like saying "Every member is an elitist snob and should be banned for RWT."

How are the F2P population being punished by not being able to talk in our clan chat?
What is this so called punishment you keep going on about.

There is no punishment. The clan will simply have a membership requirement? I honestly don't get why this is so hard to understand...

I'm still strongly opposed to this idea, as it's intended to unfairly target a specific group of the Runescape community.
take a chillpill,
its no diff then the mute options we already got where we punish a whole bunch of guests who legit in our cc visiting but cant say anything cause we need o temp mute all guests instead of TEMP mute f2p trolls spammaking accounts.
You are tearing this completely out of context

no support of this idea sorry, just close the cc for guests down for a week or a few weeks, the trolls are just there to get the attention.
Sorry but i will not support the idea.
If you dont want trolls etc, then dont have your clan open to f2p to join, and have if you do then have ranking in place etc. simple, so i dont see the purpose of the white ban list when you can just close the cc to guests down, so easy as 1 2 3 duh.

Yes, it's very different than what we have now. Right now we can choose to mute all guests, which treats both members and free players equally. It isn't right to punish an entire portion of the community because of a few P2P trolls that are using F2P alts to disguise themselves.
Punish the individuals, not the community.

They're not "punishing the community." You're making it seem as though this update would effect ALL F2P players on the game if it were implemented. Short answer - it won't.
The clans that would use this toggle already do not want F2P players to guest in their clan chats. Who would this update effect? F2P trolls, that's all.
If a clan wants to have a "members only" requirement for their clan (which includes guests as well), who are you to tell them they can't do that?
We are all allowed to set our own rules, standards, guidelines, and leadership structures for our clans (granted they are allowed by the rules of Runescape). There are over 100k clans on this game. If clans don't want to use this feature, they won't.
As I stated previously in this thread, Jagex has already revealed that this feature is being looked at for friend chats. Why should we not see this feature implemented for clan chats as well?

Discrimination doesn't always have to be used in an unjust context. Schools discriminate against which students are able to attend them. Businesses discriminate against which employees to choose from. And of course, as many of you pointed out, yes, many of our clans discriminate in terms of which players are allowed to join our communities.
Discrimination, in and of itself, is not a bad thing- if it's justified and has a purpose. In many civil rights arguments, this is the main premise that people seem to forget - that I am (a) being discriminated against and (b)
for no valid reason
.
Your membership status can cause you to be discriminated against for valid reasons. If you don't like that, then obtain membership. Unlike your race, sex, and many other traits you possess - that is something you can actually change, so please stop comparing it to things that you cannot.
Honestly, I do not see a big issue with this option for the above reasons. People need to understand discrimination before using the word carelessly. If you study law, you'd know discrimination is only really illegal if its committed against protected classes. Your membership status is not a protected class.
However, I will state that I think this is a solution that is so particular to just one type of issue (that probably isn't an every-day occurrence for most clans)that I don't think it's worth developing. I think a white-list option whereby clans can choose which guests are allowed to guest, while banning all others, is more preferable. This would serve many uses, while still solving this particular problem (and yes, using a white-list would be discriminatory too against people who aren't your friends
).
