100% No Support for ending the Clan Leader Forum

The RS forums as a whole are desperate, and long overdue, for a complete overhaul. Anyone can see that the forums are less active than Reddit and the various Discord servers players use. But, those issues stand on their own. More people prefer the faster-paced chat of Discord where they're more likely to get quicker feedback. The forums lack notifications when new posts are made, so that would be something that could help, but it's more than just that.

Here in the CLF, we, as clan leaders, have been discussing clan updates amongst ourselves and with Jmods who genuinely care about clan communities for years. This forum's impact is immeasurable, and closing it is certainly not an option. For more people to use this forum, more discussion needs to start here. If topics are brought up elsewhere, the discussion is going to take place elsewhere. Create some constructive, clan-related threads to get people talking here.

Another reason for the lack of activity here lately could be a result of so many clan updates being released within the last few months. Many of these were the same suggestions discussed on this forum for years (e.g. Clan Mute), so now we have less to talk about as more updates are released. We need to have more new ideas suggested here to get the conversations flowing again.

A Jagex-supported hub for clan leaders is vital for our communities to continue thriving in this game, and Shauny has done a commendable job with clans after Maz and Matthe moved to other positions. As much as it seems he tries to prove otherwise, Shauny can't do everything by himself. Let's keep using this forum as it was intended and keep giving Jagex the feedback and suggestions for clans that they need to hear. Shutting down the CLF would do much more harm than good.

They have said for many years, Runescape 3 is dying, Which is just an excuse to deprive new players of playing.

In terms of activity of the game and clans, well buddy My clan has 499 members and we have 443 active members so i'm sorry to disappoint you, but the game is very much alive, I made my clan in August 2017 and we have achieved tier 7 with almost 100+ capping each week.

Maybe you feel the game is dying because you're in the wrong worlds or the clan you're with is too inactive?

I would LOVE it if the blurb about CLF was actually upheld. For example from the RS Discord, it is described as:

"The Clan Leader Forum is a place for experienced clans to have direct contact with the Community Management team who support RuneScape 3. Access to the Clan Leader Forums is given solely by application which helps to ensure only experienced clan leaders are admitted. CLF is used for many things such as networking, discussing issues and coming up with solutions, asking for advice from other leaders and giving clan update suggestions to Jagex.

To apply to the Clan Leader Forms your clan will need to meet certain requirements. For full information on requirements and how to join Please check out the following thread:

Quick Find Code: 135-136-475-66019308"

And in RSOF's Clan Central:

"Hello there Clan Leader!

What is the Clan Leader Forum?:

The Clan Leader Forum is a place for experienced clans to have direct contact with the Community Management team who support RuneScape 3. Access to the Clan Leader Forums is given solely by application which helps to ensure only experienced clan leaders are admitted.

The reason why the Clan Leader Forum is hidden from general view is to allow clan leaders a place to speak to us openly and freely about clan specific topics. Given that the focus of the Clan Leader Forum is related to the functionality and communication of RuneScape 3 clans, we are only accepting applications from RS3 clans."

In reality, unless you are willing to participate in CLD, you are almost fully out of the loop. It has been at least a year that the issue of CLF activity vs any discords was being raised and yet still nothing has changed, even with the commencement of the Rs discord. Not holding my breath on this one. I have just given up on having any input into clan matters altogether.

I disagree.

These forums offer things that the Discord lacks, and we would be losing a lot if these forums went away.

Instead of scrapping this forum, I think Shauny should be keeping up with Flag A Concern and Moderation Escalation. As the Clan Curator, he has a job and responsibility to monitor these threads for potential issues. This forum shouldn't be removed on the basis that he is not keeping up with the forum.

Agreed.

Shauny is alone and we should appreciate his spare time with what he has dedicated to clans. There is only so much that 1 JMod by himself can do with multiple platforms he posts upon, bottom line here is Jagex needs to provide more resources to clans to help Shauny's workload as CM.

that being said macka, the problem doesn't lie solely with Jagex at the current time, the problem also lies with the clan leader discord as they feel they can be judge jury and executioner over the flow of information,

At the current time there is information rhat is pretty game changing stuff, eg clan cup information that is only going into the discord, hell I am supposedly banned from the discord and I had to share it with the clan leader forums weeks after it was released.

The issue with the CLD at the current time is they are taking an exclusion approach to these matters when they should be taking a read only approach to these matters. I think out of all people I know what I am talking about as I was the very first person to issue a ban when I was there to Sani and right before I left I set up a role before read only no talking was an option.

I have no doubt that there will be no official response from CLD staff regarding this matter as they have always hidden from me maybe with the exception of lLsaa since I was banned, I do believe Jagex should put more resources into helping clans even going as for as having a clan team, but i don't think that will ever happen.

No support.

The CLF and Discord channels are both beneficial.

As was previously mentioned, much of what we have asked for over the years has now been delivered. That's part of the reason it's been quiet here. When a new hot topic comes up, we will come back here to express our opinions.

Most importantly, the RSOF is still the only means of communication we have available to us without using a third party. That has value.

The forums may be outdated, but can still be useful.
