Has everyone here forgot that clans are being forced to keep their chat open to unwanted guests in order to recruit?

A que to join automatically, or tools to view peoples cooldown time alone would not solve the issue with the player not being able to be in a clans chat during their cooldown, when the clan has guesting disabled.

Here's my suggestion in case you missed it. You might find it solves all the issues possible without cooldown being reverted.
I've also put it on runelabs:

It doesn't meet requirement 3.

See Mod Moltare's explanations about why extending your suggestion isn't viable for other clan-specific content beyond the avatar.

I don't understand how adding recruits who are on cooldown to a guest whitelist would be more admin work

I'm not sure if you're responding to me or not, so I'll just say a guest white list is still the improvement I'm most interested in seeing.

My post on the previous page is about why clans see the current state as administrative work, with no changes made. In terms of what I've described, a white list would reduce administrative work since it would make it much more convenient to keep track of guests and keep all admins up-to-date on the status of guests. If names are ordered by time entered into the white list, then it would also give an estimate for how long people have been guesting in the clan.

I think the problem clans are having is that they want to be sure about whether guests are interested in joining the clan, so they can arrange invitations as soon as possible. This can be done by asking, but there are complications with that: arranging who should be asking, keeping track of this information, forgetting it or forgetting to keep track, the impression given by asking more than once, having to explain how to check cool down, the fact that for some clans it's likely that this effort will go into guests who don't join the clan in the end.

If admins were able to check cool down/clan status very easily then it would be helpful in that way.

P.S. I'm thinking with the perspective of a clan that has always allowed guests and haven't had a detailed look at your suggestion of how the white list would work.

Edit: Hmm, I was a little confused at first because "approved guests" made me think your suggestion was about a white list rather than about trying to determine interest in joining the clan.

Edit2: I see it would work as both.

I agree with your statements, Blasty.

To sum up what the whitelist could do is, keep tabs on whos on cooldown, how long they have left of cooldown, have them auto join the clan when cooldown ends, recruit people into the guest list if they are on cooldown instead of into the clan, and the obvious things that i feel the guest list was originally suggested for.

It would help with admin work imo

My clan has as well. But we are seeing a lot more guests now from the cooldown update, and it's becoming a security issue.

We've pretty much left the cc open to guests, but occasionally have had to close it due to one or two persistent trouble makers who have gotten friends to join after we've banned them. We also clsoe it during our clan meetings. A white list would help alleviate that. The most beautiful things in life cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt with the heart.

I don't think privacy is a concern here at all. In the past there have been legitimate privacy concern such as those that surrounded the join/trail option additions and being bothered or harassed in game. But with this update, letting us see if they are on cooldown or not is harmless.
From a Clan Leader's perspective, I agree. From a random player's however, I strongly disagree. I can see a lot of players wanting to keep this information private so that they don't get spammed by recruiters or to use it as an excuse for denying invitations.

If the fact you're in a clan is private information (can be hidden when you're examined), I'd think that whether you're on cooldown or not is even more so.

As to whitelists, this has been something both CLF members as well as Jagex approved of I thought? If it's not in game yet, I assume there's a technical or logistical hurdle in the way that prevents this from happening?

Since Jagex is adamant that the cooldown period stay, perhaps this will be less of a hurdle? Typically that claim is made not because it can't be done, but because it isn't deemed the best use of time and resources,
