This thread really shows that the guest list is long awaited and really supported here in the CLF, I don't see any better way to implement probation/cooldown fixes than doing it in a guest list, for, guests that are on cooldown. Not sure why there should be two separate systems when they could be done together. That's all i'm saying

Would it be possible to maybe be-able to 'tag' clans, so that you have a list (perhaps limited in size to 5?) so people looking for clans can have a list of members on their guest clan chat tab of clans they joined and liked?

This would also perhaps benefit those who just like to guest clans, so they can just click on the link and join the guest clan without typing it out.

This I feel may help remind people looking for clans of clan chats they visited and liked (because they tagged them) and for others to clans they like to visit to chat or do activities with..

Great suggestion, support for this.

My clan hasn't had any problems with the cooldown update but as always improvements are welcome :)

Edit: I haven't commented much in this debate because of the negativity, but looking forward to reading more suggestions.

Edit 2: Guesting is something that is encouraged before joining my clan. I do like the idea of some way to identify those that are still on the 7 day cooldown. As far as I'm concerned, if they are interested in guesting then they aren't interested in the clan.

I agree that a large project is not required and I think it will help lots if clan admins have a way to easily check, without having to teach them how to navigate the clan interface or meet them in-game, whether guests are:
- In another clan
- On or off cool down (or check time remaining)

A guest white list would also help clans that prefer to be closed to guests.

The consensus seems to be that people want to know the days remaining... Is there a reason why simply asking the person in question is impossible? I feel this is looking at the issue very inefficiently. One of the reasons probation system was horrible is not even the member knew when he'd be off it. Now he knows and can share that information if he wishes.

Another issue I have is what about the privacy issues... Maybe the guest in question doesn't want ppl to know if he's free or not and how many days before he can join a clan. The examine release isn't that old of an update and it caused a firestorm of privacy discussions we may need to take note of.

I'm fine doing as I have been doing: letting people on cool down know that whenever they're ready to join, they can ask for an invitation.

I don't mind a little additional work on admins, but it can be hard to maintain because either administration work must be put into keeping records of all guests, or each guest should have at least one person paying attention to their cool down period.

The first case I think is excessive administrative work, and the second case means most admins will be uncertain about the status of most guests, and if the admin(s) monitoring a guest forget how long they have on cool down then they have to be asked.

Some clans aren't prepared to check on guests this way, and it could get involved to have to explain to guests how to navigate the clan interface through pm to locate the cool down, or bothersome to arrange a meeting to check.

This makes my clan slightly hesitant to recruit too many people as a guests at a time. Making guest status information easily available would probably help with recruitment which many clans are concerned about.

I agree that it can lead to privacy problems though, as clans may be more likely to forcefully attempt to recruit people off cool down immediately, so it might lead to unwanted attention influencing their decision to join a clan.

I don't think privacy is a concern here at all. In the past there have been legitimate privacy concern such as those that surrounded the join/trail option additions and being bothered or harassed in game. But with this update, letting us see if they are on cooldown or not is harmless.

I have to be honest here..
I've only ready to page 13 (So may have missed 2 pages of suggestions) but here are my thoughts:

The main suggestions that most agree with is to create a new rank for guests, so that it auto-invites them when their week is up.
Does no one realise how stupid this sounds? This is basically being able to invite them immediately with up to a weeks citadel cooldown - as it was before this probation update.

The logic here is basically everyone saying that what we had before is effectively what we want again.
The other suggestions, again very similar, is that they can join and citadel cooldown depends on how long ago they left their clan. If they left >7 days ago, immediate access. 2 days ago? Wait 5 days for citadel.

So basically... would it not be easier, and be the same as what is suggested here in logic, to go back to what we had?

I wish I had this freedom in my clan. Unfortunately we all have real life distractions, and there's few of us being a small clan. This basically means that any extra admin work is almost impossible to us - and I'm sure I'm not the only small clan with this issue. This is why this update is more destructive than helpful.
