EDIT to add a general observation: I'd dearly love to show everyone our codebase if it weren't commercially sensitive information, it'd explain so much ¬¬ it's an amazingly versatile beast next to so many others but it's got its own challenges.
Is it true that RuneScript doesn't even support doubles/float?

I agree with Bresmine Exploratore and Colifin about a cooldown rank of some sort but I think it would be best to do this features from a new tab in clan tab, a whitelist tab if you will. These players would technically be guests. This way we could better keep our chats open but keep them closed, too. With approved guests. Kind of kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

Instead of it being a new rank, theyd be guests and we'd have tools in the whitelist tab to see how much longer their cooldown will be. A 'approved guest' rank in clan chat, and more info in the new tab. My exact idea is on the last page tho

I also wondered if the clan cup could be managed independently from the game itself in some fashion. Writing the code from a fresh start would mean changes wouldn't break other things and could be designed exactly as Jagex need it to be. In the long run, it might require much less time and resources.

Just trying to think outside the box here.

Thanks to all our J-Mods for being open to suggestions.

I was suggesting the status of guests be displayed in the whitelist

A whitelist could allow guests on cooldown to join clanchat but keep others out, and potentially do other useful things for approved guests to help them join eventually

Agreed. An official rank would be a TON of work. And an actual whitelist would be as well.

I don't think that adding a delayed join, however, would be too hard to add. And if someone has a delayed join currently queued, then it could be checked and used to auto-join that chat and used to override certain permissions.

Plus it fixes the problem of people forgetting about the clan or losing interest, which realistically is the largest problem my clan faces due to this update.

I agree with Colifin that a delayed join, combined with an auto join guesting would be very beneficial.

This would be a method to circumvent allowing guest should your clan choose to disable this feature, seeing as the potential member would be approved and allowed to be in cc, while they're on the 7 day cool down period. Would kind of be like a whitelist that self cleans, seeing as after they cool down, they no long would have to approved as a welcome guest.

Edit: However, if technically feasible, a rank would be nice, for identifications sake =)

All a white list solves is pointing out who's an approved guest (and it obviously allows people to guest with guesting disabled). Doesn't really have any concrete benefit imo.

And it would still require maintaining by admins.

My post on the last page of this thread would say otherwise, if done right, it would be very useful for cooldown and auto-joining chat and clan, and such.
