No, was wondering why the 7 days is staying is all, as that is why we're all against this poo.
Come on J4ron, that really isn't helpful at all. I'm just as much against this as you are, I don't think comments like that help
I'll admit to being guilty of this myself, but not 2 pages worth. I vent a little, but try to add some helpful feedback in accordance to guidelines set in OP between all the venting. That will help our cause much more, I think.

I hope I ahven't made 20 posts in this thread. I have said the idea I am willing to settle with.
I'm not going to sit in the corner and watch them make this update worse, and keep the 7 days.

And I'm not going to sit back and watch them keep the 7 days AND not improve on it. Let me tell you some things I'm proud of Jagex for:
> Members can immediately join their previous clan, no 7 days
> Muting individuals
These are the improvements I'm fighting for here:
> Improved guest options for admin
> Tags? or Guest tags (FoC --- Friend of Clan?) maybe.
I would prefer the old system myself, but these will satisfy my clan's needs
I wish your clan the best and that it's needs are met as well.

Bananas are lovely
That's nice and all, but why shouldn't they be allowed to gain xp for the clan whilst on this probation rank? Your idea would possibly be good as a
last resort
, I still prefer ryan/pants idea/s, which are doable.
Why a last resort when it solves all the issues people have with cool down?

A Clan Merging tool is indeed on our backlog for development
Oh, crap. This could be troublesome...
I can see it now:
Clans that merge retain their current ranks...
What if clans have different rules and methods for ranking?
What if certain members aren't meant to be those ranks?
... One does not SIMPLY MERGE with another clan.
1. it doesnt have to work like that
2. Clans who merge decide on who will and who wont be admins, this has nothing to do with a clan merger tool, this is down to the two clans, irrelevant argument again

Could you explain how writing the check itself becomes such a huge technical hurdle? Isn't it just a manner of having the data available in the player object and then writing a conditional where someone needs to be a full member, similar to how you would do for a level requirement or quest prerequisite when making a quest sequel?
Yep, that's all it is, but... you'd be doing it in the Clan Wars entry code, and in every check within the game that can be invoked during any part of the Clan Cup, so every single skilling check, for a start. Which then all needs to be QAd.
When our team has one available dev and one available QA, both of whom have other duties, that's more time cost than we have available time before the next Clan Cup in the latter portion of this year.
The problem with this solution is not "technical challenge" in the sense of being notionally difficult to do or solving a logic problem that has never been attempted before, it's logistics of time.
I note in the interests of full disclosure that the actual check for the skilling part could in theory be performed in the very central-most code chunk which actually applies experience to the player's save state... if we do it that way our technical director will pay our team a visit and decapitate all of us, because it's so costly for the running overhead of the game as a whole. So there's two possible approaches, neither of which are really acceptable.
Sorry to shoot your idea down, but, well - you asked

As MattHe has stated, we'll be looking over this thread later today. I'm taking this whole issue very seriously indeed, and I'm dedicated to finding the best possible compromise that fulfils the aims stated at the start of this thread while addressing as many as possible of your concerns.
Thank you to all who have made positive contributions to this and the original thread.
