Ahh thanks for clarifying, I was a little worried for a second. I'm not against the 7 day cooldown. Sure it has it's problems, but yeah. Making it more difficult to join clans would be a little annoying. I guess with the pin it would be possible to stop people from spying on your clan chat so that pkers can't find you during wbs and things like that.

Edit: Thought about a possible problem with this. Guests could become potentially frustrated if an admin kept changing the pin all the time. How would players initially gain access as a guest? Would they have to pm a higher rank? If they are first guesting in the clan they might not know anyone to ask for the pin.

I have finally found a happy balance to recruiting and growing my clan with the limits that the new system brought us. Though some ideas on here sound promising, it doesn't sound like any one idea really fixes the problem that we were having while accomplishing what the system was designed to fix. I currently do not support a password to enter the clan chat channel UNLESS we can make it 100% flexible with how OUR CLAN chooses to use it! :)

What I mean is, I do not want to be forced to use a password lock on the clan chat channel at all. If we choose to use it, and it is there, then great. Please do not install an update that will force another limitation on clans that do not want to use the feature.

I do understand that the password could be great for other clans, and it may be great for our clan to... but I have no way of knowing if it is good for us unless I give it a live run.

The only way I am willing to support this update in a live run is if it is "OPTIONAL" in my clan management interface.

My understanding from reading the suggestions, is that it would indeed be optional. Even if it wasn't in the original suggestion, Mod Maz is quite the fan of toggles and so would most likely attempt to make it optional anyway.

I had always assumed the password would be optional. If it's not, then I flat out oppose the policy vehemently.

My problem is that the password doesn't solve as many problems as a guest white-list would have, which itself still wouldn't have solved all of the problems with this update.

I would like to assume that it would be optional as well... but assuming can lead to issues if your not right! Lets get this working the way it can benefit everyone in the best possible way (optional) and do-able from a resource standpoint of Jagex.

Conversation seems to be coming to a halt. It seems as though if we want anything meaningful to be done about this update, anything of actual substance, we are going to need to win a RuneLabs poll to justify the effort. Otherwise we will continue to be rejected on the basis of "too much engine work/too technical".

So, just to be clear, what exactly would something like a clan white-list fall under as far as project size?

ok... I'm started to get very annoyed with this new system now. We use an offsite forum and currently have had to start a new board to keep track of people we have interviewed but can not as yet join.

Also as we do not open our cc to guests as with any clan of our age you have a few ex members you do not wish to be able to walk back in. So the new members-in-waiting hang out in our recruitment chat which is ok but it splits conversation which is something I don't like.

Therefore we are going to have to start opening our cc to guests. This means we have to bring in new procedures and make sure anyone opening cc to a guest needs to make sure they close it after that guest leaves... damn annoying.

I don't know if this has been suggested yet but I think the simplest solution would be to have a 'friendslist' for cc. So we can add peoples names waiting to join the clan to our 'clanfriendslist' and then set clan setting to allow 'friends' in the section with the check box for cc open to guests yes/no we could have yes/no/friends?

this way we could control exactly who could come into cc.

This has been suggested before yes! As Clan whitelist I believe, can't find it in here. Was not sure if it was feasable or not.
