Hey Jamo actually interesting hearing another 83 story :)
And hi there Krisi :) Most of the clans on 83 have been there for awhile so it was nice to read your story too, besides the rogue admin part lol! :p

My rule of thumb has always been rule with a Iron Fist but a Open heart, some people not like that view, but I am very solid when it comes to clan rules, but I care allot for the people in it.

I'd like to say this is the way I lead my CC too, very firm in regards to following the rules, and approach anything I deem inappropriate for the CC in a serious manner, however my PM is always on and I've regularly told my clan friends that it is always on and I'm open to discuss everything and anything with anyone, welcoming any ones questions, queries, concerns etc with an open heart and I definitely go way out of my way to help people as soon as the opportunity presents itself. Sometimes going way out of my own way to help players can be a bit draining and hard work, but I live by phrase that there's more happiness in giving than there is in receiving.
And in regards to ruling with an Iron fist but and an open heart I've had a lot of members praise this method of leading and personally find it very effective in leading a very welcoming, friendly and rule abiding clan.

^_^

Thanks Jamo for the insight, might push you off priff central walk ways next time I see you in game, rather than just running past :)

We are the very same here!

I love helping as it brings be a lot of joy seeing others happy and progressing, even if that means going above and beyond so I always have my pms on so everyone is able to pm me.

I also lead with an iron fist but an open heart, at the end of the day as leaders we make decisions for the betterment of the clan not to hurt it so sometimes this may require us to make a decision that some or many my disagree with.

My clan and I joke around with this in skype calls and in the cc where they call me "Ray the Dictator" at the end of the day the buck stops with me, so I wouldn't want anything to damage the hard work everyone has done.

I always listen to feedback even the negative no matter how bad, that way you try understand and learn and make better ideas!

What does the 'tator' honorific mean? Are you a spud? :| :| :|

Also, woah this thread filled up with a lot of responses, looking forward to reading them after I recuperate from studying for my midterm :p

(I couldn't resist ragging on Ray though, lmao)

Clan Owner, Old Goats
Since July 26, 2011

We were Saged Alliance for years with no particular leader, just a group of old friends who enjoyed the game together but were never into the formal clan idea. When Citadels opened, we decided to give it a try as long as the Citadel continued to be a positive benefit for all of us. During our discussion about the whole clan and citadel idea, I asked who we were going to appoint as owner since we had to have one. The response was "you" ... and there you have it. Through thick and thin, updates good and ugly, squabbles, sickness and deaths of beloved members, celebrations of achievements both in game and in real life, we remain friends and play companions ... the Old Goats.

Clan Owner, The Imperial Legion
7 years, 2 months
Comments:

I am the second leader of my clan, and I obtained this position due to the previous leader having to quit due to more 'IRL' obligations and his nominated successor having not logged in for a fair while; after a time I took it upon myself to organise the clan and after a short while I was confirmed and agreed as the successor by the previous leader.

We have had our setbacks; but we have always bounced back and so thus we adopted the 'phoenix' clan symbol and the words 'we rise from the ashes' as our clan motto ( although probably very few of our members know that ).

The Imperial Legion is currently a social, all-round clan; hosting various events. As a leader I see my role as being the foundation to which members build on to create activity. I provide the framework for ranking (a point system) and attempt to maintain a friendly, constructive atmosphere. Aside from that I try to be impartial and allow members to determine the events and kind of community they want.

Clan Owner, Elite Pixels
1 year, 1 month

I am still in the original clan that I've posted on this thread, but now as Deputy Owner and we changed our name to Friendzone. It's currently inactive until I regain leadership (the owner has quit 4-5 months ago). However, I also no longer play on this account. I play only on my ironman which is in a very large clan. There, I like to consider myself an adept member, having dealt with clan leadership for many years.

When I regain leadership, I think I will try to reboot the clan with a group of friends but maybe from my Ironman account (I haven't decided yet what I'll do exactly).

Cheers :)
"Why are you posting threads, asking questions and making discussion???"

Me & Ignore List have been talking over the past 2 days and found out that we lead our clans in a very similar way. There's a bit too much in common haha!

We were just discussing the above and both happened to be reading you reply at the same time too! :')
