@Krisi, what Agita said :)

the most active ones are;

Our forum which has almost 400 members and. Which is refered the most to, as that's the place where the most info about our clan is, where people can follow where all their ranking info is going to, and a bunch of guides, but also off topic stuff, like cooking corner etc. Its Aaaalways under construction :)

Our closed Facebook group. For clannies only. This is where like 90ish clannies are currently on. Sharing our clan related stuff, but also runescape updates for the future, present, past. Funny rs stuff, questions clannies might have, rs pics etc etc. We do tell our members before Joining the private Facebook to make a rs related account and not use their RL one, If they still join with their rl one, that's fine, but we do warn them about the disadvantages that has.

Our closed Admin+ Facebook. For active admin+ only. Its a must-have offline communication we need, to keep the community organised 24/7 Anything that happens, or needs to happen goes trough there. All our admins are on there, and it is their responsibility to make sure they are informed of everything going around.

The less active ones, but which we hope to give an active bump, once we have more admin+ choosing the media role (as their main task within the community)
Are twitter, and our YouTube channel.

And brand new now, our instagram which welp, don't know what it even is, which one of our admins is setting up now. And we are testing photobucket atm to see if that's a good medium to share rs pics.

Thats about the main things i can think about atm :)

Main goal is, stay connected, offline help, offline communication, guides and public relations

Enjoyed reading through some of these stories and for sure some things said that I can relate to, especially one comment on how the community have kept people playing. The community have definitely had a huge influence on my time on RS and if it wasn't for clans & the community I wouldn't be playing.

Anyway, hi :}

So my story... I created 'Renown' with 4 friends from a previous clan and it started of extremely successful, with the clan hitting near 50 members on the first day. A huge number of players from my previous clan followed after my departure from that clan and a few others friends joined.
So I've been actively leading my clan for just over 2 years now, created the clan in March 14.
We're a clan that offers every aspect to the game, so community aspect, skilling aspect and have some great pvmers. We've been at a steady number of 180 members or so for some time now and I don't want to increase too far past this number. I have a few reasons for this but my main reason being that I want a community built together where everybody knows everybody, which I found in my previous clan that was non-existent due to being a clan of 500 members.

In terms of leadership and other key ranks, I do not demand anything from the other ranks and I managed most things on my own until one amazing member joined my clan back in late 2014 and progressed through the ranks and is now an Overseer, who is still always willing to help out and will do as soon as the opportunity presents itself. He currently keeps on top of citadels upkeep and hosting our weekly clan events. We're a very laid back clan and I believe most of the members really enjoy the clan for that reason.

I have never made anything mandatory in my clan, not even for higher ranks as I view it as we're on this game to have fun, enjoy our time on here and have a laugh with our friends and by making something mandatory players are taken away from the things they actually want to do... To be continued....

Especially for those members who don't have much time to play, and as the leader of the clan I try to optimize players time on this game so they can enjoy it even more. That's my view point on that anyway. :}

But yes, we have been a very successful clan and I'm lucky to have so many great people amongst me every day! As for clan milestones, our biggest yet would probably be reaching the top 100 clans about 2 months ago.

I look forward to reading more stories & happy scapping!

WOW! I can't believe I didn't see this thread a year ago when it was made! how could I have missed it!

I genuinely hope this doesn't get locked as it has been said it would be a shame to see the really good quality posts be lost!

Clan Owner of Bass and Drums Clan
Over 5 years.

The names Ray, I've been running clans for about 12 years now. Bass and Drums is the clan i've lead the longest. Around late 2010 early 2011 I lost the passion for RS, and started playing less and less and then a week or so after the cc was introduced my friend irl (60K) told me about a clan he helped open known as Bass and drums which he wanted me to join.

He wanted me to join and start with a High Council position, but at that point in time after running clans for a long time and the fleeting motivation I said I'd take a back seat and just recruit and play casually.

I got noticed for recruiting and helping out with promoting out the citadel and capping (I've only ever missed 1 cap since clan citadels have been out!!!) and was promoted quickly to general. (took a month or so)

I was offered admin by the then deputy owner of the clan, which I declined and said I'd accept it in the summer when I can devote more time to the clan and truly feel I deserved it. I eventually go promoted to admin and quickly climbed the ranks to Coordinator.

Some drama happened between 1 of the then deputy owners and all of the overseers which resulted in the deputy owner kicking everyone out of the clan. we wen't from being one of the top clans to nothing over night :( .

The owner got on and the deputy got demoted (owner never played and this was one of the few times she got on) and I got promoted to overseer by the other deputy but due to my exposure to the clan everyone treated me as the owner and the deputy let me have free reign of the clan so I did an overhaul.

Then one day the owner logged in and the deputy asked for me to be made a deputy which was granted.

I ran the clan as owner but with the deputy key till the innactive owner removing being a thing. My clan was fortunate and we were the first clan to have our owner changed.

As deputy and owner I've never made anything mandatory. I was made so proud when my clan was one of the first to get tier 7 citadel and clan dragon.

As with most clan our clan clan has had its ups and down but I had an amazing admin team who helped and supported me and helped me strive to create the vision of the clan I had.

The clan has taught me many things about myself, but as a leader you do become very humbled as the clan becomes apart of your life and sometimes like a family when you become attached to your members as they do to you.

As such the below becomes a hard and upsetting thing.

The hardest part of being a clan leader is to become good friends with people but having to see them go. So many old faces are now gone and I often wonder how they're doing.

I am the EXACT same as you on this Jamo!:

The one thing i'll say is you can't be short on is appreciation and praise!

As I tell the clan if it weren't for them the clan wouldn't exist or be where it is now.

Communication is key! always Communicate information which you can so everyone is on the same page

I've done the majority of the work in my clan as I wanted others to enjoy their time on RS - but to all leaders I'd say make some sort of team to help you, it really will decrease the stress.

This brought me joy reading it! ^.^

I'm pretty confident that I too have only ever missed 1 week of capping. I don't understand why other people don't like it :{

However it's nice to read of another Leader viewing that the same way :} We don't have AMAZING numbers attend the citadel however we have still managed to get T7 and currently working on cosmetics, etc. so we've done well! :} And I share a somewhat similar story with you in my previous clan before Renown, so it was nice to read as I had as mentioned a similar experience.

There's too much to reply too but it was a joy reading your story and others too. :)

Hey Jamo actually interesting hearing another 83 story :)
And hi there Krisi :) Most of the clans on 83 have been there for awhile so it was nice to read your story too, besides the rogue admin part lol! :p

My rule of thumb has always been rule with a Iron Fist but a Open heart, some people not like that view, but I am very solid when it comes to clan rules, but I care allot for the people in it.

I'd like to say this is the way I lead my CC too, very firm in regards to following the rules, and approach anything I deem inappropriate for the CC in a serious manner, however my PM is always on and I've regularly told my clan friends that it is always on and I'm open to discuss everything and anything with anyone, welcoming any ones questions, queries, concerns etc with an open heart and I definitely go way out of my way to help people as soon as the opportunity presents itself. Sometimes going way out of my own way to help players can be a bit draining and hard work, but I live by phrase that there's more happiness in giving than there is in receiving.
And in regards to ruling with an Iron fist but and an open heart I've had a lot of members praise this method of leading and personally find it very effective in leading a very welcoming, friendly and rule abiding clan.

Double Rainbow owner for 1 year 5 months. We've gone through a lot of leadership changes, and I agree that it can be hard to get other leaders motivated sometimes, but the set of ranks and leaders we have now is outstanding and probably the best we've had! Owner of Double Rainbow! |

5 years. I founded my clan, Northern Allies, the day after the clan camp update in April of 2011.
We've certainly had our ups (like hitting rank 4 on the rcw hiscores) and downs (dep owner kicking 495 people out of the clan). After all these years people are not as active as they used to be although in the past two years I can't think of a single admin+ leaving the clan. However, I'm happy I've stuck around all this time and I'm glad I have some great players to cap and chat with. :)
