I agree. as a clan member I always felt a sense of guilt if I didn't cap while others did, yet I hated the idea of spending my time doing so. In the last couple of years of my active gaming I did start to do more and would log in just to cap, but that was as a result of changes in the game making the main reason I logged in have no more enjoyment and it allowed me to forum more. At least we did eventually get to t7 before the inevitable demise.

Clan loyalty and pride cannot be measured by the amount somebody caps at a citadel. Those who do regularly are just as likely to ditch you as those who don't for the most part.

Instant caps (especially as drops) sound ridiculous and defeat the purpose completely.

I think most of the capping issues clans face come from leadership mismanagement (i.e. cap slavery).

People are far more likely to hate capping and avoid it like the plague when they feel like it's something they are constantly forced to do, as opposed to a natural and non-oppressive or non-artificial approach.

We've never had an issue with capping/dilapidation at all as we follow the natural approach, which always leads to a happier, healthier and more relaxed environment and a feeling of love towards the clan (and its citadel as a result) where people cap only because they really want to (and aren't told to or have someone breathing down their neck), otherwise it's seen as a chore.

+1 to all this.

+ another one to all this

And yet another +1

Another +1

LOL.

If you don't want a clan citadel, don't build one.

Easy peasy.

And yet the only game related clan benefits I can think of are directly tied to citadel. And you're speaking from the position of a clan with a Tier 7 citadel as well.

If you want the benefits, then deal with a citadel. This is not rocket science, people. You cannot have it both ways.

Work for stuff, or don't. It's entirely up to you.

The Citadel, and maintaining it, is meant to be an effort - that is part of the design and reason for the advantages/rewards being as they are.

As is, as a player, I don't begrudge the short period of time each week I hop to the Citadel and skill there - the XP rate is reasonable, it involves little running around and supports my clannies too.

I can only repeat what I said to my own clan members: the people in your clan either want the benefits of having a Citadel strongly enough to put in the effort of creating and maintaining one, or they don't.

Neither is inherently a Wrong position, but a Citadel doesn't build and maintain itself. If they decide they want one, they need to build one. If they decide they don't want to build one, they've chosen to forgo the advantages of one.
