what helps to me is:

creatine
whey shakes
eating good and regular

most things just give you placebo effect cause in your mind ur like HUE HUE I TOOK A PILL NOW IM -insert their magic effect-

for real gains when it comes to supplementing or well.. wanting to see real differences fast theres no other way than to go in HRT im afraid. (aside from creatine)

I agree, that's why I keep it at whey protein and multi vitamins.
And also because I'm a student so you can guess where my budget is at lol.
I pay about €60 for a 4.5kg tub of protein as well.
As for my timing and quantity, uhmm 1 scoop mixed in my breakfast and then
another for a shake close when going to bed.

I'd also suggest not wasting your money on supplements, like Last Song said, if you've got a good whey protein there's bound to be a decent amount of amino acids in. I would even look at whey protein as food, really, instead of a supplement.

Edit: I see you are Dutch too, Last :P

The amino acid profile of my protein is bad, I know that for a fact lol.

I emailed the site I buy it from and they got back to me and said it was a typo on the website and it would be fixed, all they did was remove the information from their site completely.

The amino acid profile of Last Song's seems good, much better than that of anything I've ever bought.

What brand/make are your protein shakes? And do you have an English version of the website?

Cravings FROM carbs? :o On the contrary, carbs are good stomach fillers! :P
Yes I agree! Except when it comes to things like breads, rice, and normal potatoes (might be just me). Basically, anything lacking nutrients, compared to what you could get, and other simple carbs. Carbs are always equivocal, when it comes to my view on them, things like vegs, fruits, and legumes I don't consider them as a carb, to avoid.

Tastes like sawdust so I usually add a little chocolate powder which will increase the sugar, one of the other reasons I'm not too keen on drinking 3 a day. I could just cut out the chocolate flavouring but.. dat taste.
I'm not sure if you're able to, but when I get bad tasting ones I try to ween myself to the taste. If it's absolutely terrible, try making it a cold shake. Try freezing some bananas, to put in a blender, put some "choclate flavor", add milk or water, whatever you prefer. The frozen banana almost tastes like ice cream and makes it real easy to down.

By weening of it, my method is: cut down on the amount of bananas (start with one whole, cut it down by 1/3rds each time you think you can handle it), after no bananas are added cut out milk swap to water (Just me, I hate milk's taste). Hopefully you'll find something better, but in the mean time get your moneys worth! Also, instead of choc flavor, try using plain cocoa , it's all the flavor without the sugar. (mix it well, no clumps, or a bitter taste awaits). I haven't found a preferred protein mix myself, I just go with what I can afford..:/

MyProtein. Cheap and easy. Go for the unflavoured too and just chuck in a table spoon of Nesquik Chocolate Powder.
Again, nether.

^ This :p

I've had some MyProtein samples in the past and before my current tub (Matrix anabolic) I had some from Bulk Powders.

I always start off liking the taste of whatever I buy but when I get to ~2kg left, I start to really go off it every time.

The solution would, of course, be to buy 2 x 2.5kg tubs in various flavours rather than 1 x 5kg of one flavour but usually end up making the same mistake.

My previous protein from Bulk Powders I ended up selling to a friend because I went from loving the taste to retching every time I had to chug one down.
