I used to use Bodybuilding.com a lot for stuff, but the trolling there got out of hand - I know a lot of the guys over at the Misc play runescape. There's some absurdly long thread on it. Hahah.

Lmao I was redirected to that misc. forum sometime last week. I stumbled upon a thread about a guy who got caught urinating in the sink of the men's restroom by his senior VP at work, asking what he should do.

It got derailed into pages upon pages of guys saying they mostly use sinks to urinate etc, but the best advice was " quickly send an email to management you caught the VP pissing in the sink, then no one will believe him"

I know that isn't related to this thread but that had me laughing for the whole evening :p.

Trust me when I say the misc is an undiscovered goldmine of trolling antics. I had many evenings and nights in fits of laughter as a result of that forum.
Again, nether.

I currently have 2 shakes daily. 1 in the morning and 1 after a workout/before bed.

However, on days where I'm working I'll get up at 6am (have a shake), in the gym for 6:30, finish for 8-9am and then go to work.

Q: Should I have a 3rd shake post-WO? Majority of the time I'm not getting ANY protein because I don't have time for eggs etc. for breakfast.

I've just always stuck to 2 shakes and don't really know whether a third daily is overkill.

It also means a 5KG tub lasts ~5 weeks instead of 7-8 and it can get quite expensive.

depends on the protein in your shake.. my shakes are 40 grams a shake so i actually only need 2
rest of the protein i take is in my food and comes down to perfect amount

i take 1.5-2 gram of protein per kg of lean mass spread over the day cause your body wont store large volumes at once you will just pee it out if you dont spread it.

protein you need depends on how much u workout / how much you weigh.. how much is in your shakes/food then just calculate all that :P

on another note; what country and how much do u pay for 5kg of protein?

edit; i find it abit hard to believe u dont get protein btw theres protein in basically all dairy products / nuts/ any meat so its very likely u get ATLEAST 10-20 grams of protein from your normal food intake without trying.

100 grams of usual meat/fish = around 18-21 grams of protein
1 glass of milk semi skimmed (normal size) is 7-9 grams of protein

actually is 2-3.5 gram per 100ml of milk in most countries so if u went ahead and drank a liter youd be +20-35grams of protein also..

inb4 protein type discussion by the way: personally i never felt a difference between using whey isolate or normal whey..
(tried isolate for 2 months) then back to normal... no extra gains or anything when used isolate so i kinda feel thats just money grubbing for minimal extra (if at all)

I'm 6'5 and 115kg. Workout at least 4 days a week (on a bad week) but aim for 5-6.

My shake has 36g protein in a 50g serving, 7.5g carbs and 2.5g creatine (I add another 5-7.5) and supposedly added growth hormone inducing peptides (I've not seen any visible differences).

Tastes like sawdust so I usually add a little chocolate powder which will increase the sugar, one of the other reasons I'm not too keen on drinking 3 a day. I could just cut out the chocolate flavouring but.. dat taste.

The protein I use atm costs me £50 for a 5kg tub. (UK)

E: I probably do get "enough" throughout the day but my main concern was a hit of protein directly after a workout to reverse the catabolic state. If I'm working then I'll often workout in the morning and not have ANYTHING to eat until ~5 hours later.

sounds to me like u could use that 3rd shake if you are absolutely sure you barely get other proteins in your daily food.

currently with 2 shakes you would sit around the daily protein needed for a normal person who doesnt work out.

really recommend finding a shake u actually like drinking though.. my shakes are delicious im not gonna lie lol :P

thats in my shake.. around same price as you are paying i supplement my creatine outside of the shakes though

on the note of when to take protein.. personally i just take it around 30 mins after working out (i walk home) and abit before sleeping
on the matter of "whats the right time" everyone has a different opinion on that and thats more broscience as actual facts in most cases.

Do you take BCAAs as well?

The amino acid profile seems really good if that's p/ 100g.

I'm looking for something with a better amino acid profile myself because the protein I use is lower than I'd like and I don't want to be paying extra for BCAA tablets.

ive supplemented with bigass BCAA pills before but right now just the bcaa values in the shake

no difference noted when i was supplementing with bcaa and that shit costed me alot and most good protein shakes have some bcaa's in them
im pretty convinced that all the extra supplements are just a run for your money cause ive supplemented the shit out of everything (even some stuff made me vomit) and all i gained from it was moneyloss lol

what helps to me is:

creatine
whey shakes
eating good and regular

most things just give you placebo effect cause in your mind ur like HUE HUE I TOOK A PILL NOW IM -insert their magic effect-

for real gains when it comes to supplementing or well.. wanting to see real differences fast theres no other way than to go in HRT im afraid. (aside from creatine)
