Never understood the distaste some have for those who lift. Granted it's not for everyone, but there's no need to troll.

@Adiva. How is yoga, btw? Imagine it's pretty good for flexibility and such?

Cycling down to my gym in like 25 minutes. 6.35AM and it's tipping it down with rain. :(

This is my gym - http://www.payasugym.com/images/gym_img/large/138116241820203.JPG (no, it's not the gym's website - found it through a google search)

nice gym looks pretty oldschool i like that. wish my gym was more iron less devices!

My gym is bloody fantastic, and arguably the best in the county. I live in Essex, and I know the guy who runs it in opening a few more in the south east Essex area. Since that photo was taken there have been additions too in the OTHER section, which also has machines and cables - as well as a few treadmills, etc.

My gym is run by an ex-bb pro, and one of the PTs was over 50s Olympia Champion a couple of times. Honestly, it's brilliant.
Again, nether.

haha it looks real good atleast here in the netherlands they crack down on gyms like that cause its usually full with people dealing in roids then the gym has to close...
so now gyms shy away in general from wanting to have a bodybuilders image..
and most gyms cant compete anyway with the big companies out there thesedays

all gyms turning into grannyville.. ah well atleast they reserve a spot for lifting still :) gotta with what ya got! :P

Yeah it's a shame most gyms are now commercialised for middle-aged mothers and older people looking to just shed a few pounds over the summer or in the early new year. No offense intended there, obviously.

My old gym (Virgin Active) was a steaming pile of horse manure compared to where I'm at now. They even had those god-forsaken 10kg barbells with the plastic ends. I mean c'mon, who uses those!?
Again, nether.

I actually like that my gym has a wide range of people. There's a few gyms where I live (including a Virgin Active).

Some are full of huge, roid pumped guys, some are women only and some have a nice mix of age/gender (mine included). It's nice not to be surrounded by inflated egos.

I suppose it's a personal preference thing. I prefer a gym that feels like a lifter's gym, especially as I train on my own. I'm not really there for the social side of things, I guess.
Again, nether.

Hey there, looks like an interesting thread :)
I am personally a powerlifter and my brother and myself have a mixed program
of powerlifting and a normal workout.

So, let's take monday for example.

That would give us:
Squats, following our powerlifting program.
Followed by finishing legs following a normal workout routine.

Tuesday Bench following the powerlifting program,
finish chest by normal workout.

Wednesday Deadlift by powerlifting program,
finish back by normal workout.

Thursday Log Lift,
followed by shoulders on a normal routine.

Friday biceps/triceps on a normal routine.

Abs added on tuesday/thursday
Cardio added wherever there's time for it.

I could share the current program (exercises, sets etc ) if you want me to :P

Current PRs (1RM):

(Included Log lift as we do this as powerlifting exercise for shoulders)

Raw :
Squat 220kg
Bench 140kg
Deadlift 265kg
Log lift 105kg

Equipped :
Squat 235kg (knee wraps, no suit)
Bench 175kg (bench shirt)
Deadlift 270kg (suit, should be able to get close to 300 though , had quite some leftover)
Log lift /

Edit: And I'd like to say my coach is an IPF world champ xD
