I am all up for repurposing some of the lesser used content/areas for skilling stuff.

Change Fist of Guthix into the story that the destruction of the Stone of Jas has agitated the energy of the area, and the protective wards have been having a resonant effect and mutated by the energy from the stone. Now some of the anima from the elder gods is leaking in. The area is a step away from becoming an anima volcano.
Change from PvP to skilling as players now need to work together to do things to try to accumulate the energy and get rid of corrupted build up.
Use WC, mining, FM, and runecrafting to get rid of the corrupted stuff.
Use crafting, smithing, construction, and other skills to build things to try to alleviate the enerfy.
Use runecrafting and divination to just transmute raw pockets of energy into something inert.
The damage over time of the area mechanic remains as a way to be "safe" or "Dangerous" (more XP/rewards)

Similar with Castle wars to add in a Player vs mob environment.
Spawn lots of Spiritual Creatures for Sara/Zam sides. Player can now do PvM in the game and still make progress AND do slayer tasks.

It's why I suggested something similar for Soul Wars.

Challenge is some activities can't really be redone. Or at least not redone easily.
Burth games room for example. Migrating the minigames out to taverns and such is 1 option. but you still need to do something to convince players to play.

I could also see the argument that for the most part, the game aren't really "broken"
Outdated grpahics aside, They still work. (usually)
You don't have the graphical/technical issues that Mobilizing Armies had that rendered it unplayable.
You don't have the gambling/RWT issues that Rat Pits, Deathmatch, and Duel Arena had.
It's simply that no one is playing them.
Jagex hasn't wanted to invest the resources in them since Barbarian Assault fell flat.
They also don't want to necessarily make them a 0-resource or 0-investment/risk way to get high tier stuff.
Thus players have little reason to do them.
Thus Jagex has little reason to invest dev time in something that players aren't doing something with.

So Jagex's options become to have to become willing to invest the time to update them, invest the time to remove them, invest the time to repurpose them, invest the time to quasi-update them without doing too much, ... or ... as they've typically chosen ... not invest any time in them at all.

I'm not sure if the state of minigames was worse now or when the Castle Wars Armor was still a trimmed comp cape req't.

You had players that AFK'd the minigames trying to earn thaler to passively make their way to the trim req't.
They just stood there. Barely moving.
They became outright toxic if you did anything to them.
Play a pvp minigame and attack them? Insert rage. Play Flash Powder Factory and steal from them? Rage.

They artificially increased the number of players in an instance, sure. But it wasn't fun.

Nowadays, you don't even have that.

The other thing to remember is that not all players play for "fun".
If a minigame has ANYTHING that is required for trim/comp or is a "Best in slot" item ... the player can and will find the most ruthlessly efficient method for reaching the number of points/whatever to reach that goal. And that. Is. It.
Read up on the tactics for points or whatever for Mobilizing Armies or for commendation points for Conquest on the RS Wiki.
The goal isn't so much about playing the game for fun.
MA ... you literally wait 2 minutes ... the drop canons to kill your own troops. Rinse and repeat each game.
That is a HORRIBLE concept IRL.
But in a game? Totally allowed. Fastest way to get points in MA.

The devs never really think about how the players would actually utilize the mechanics they create.
The devs create it for "fun" and "enriching gameplay".
But in reality, that's not always how players react to it.

The reason I suggested a D&D was it does cater to the current player meta. The activity would still be available (like Troll Invasion) but the large reward can only be done once.

If you look at how devs often design content these days compared to 15 years ago, they have to consider if their content is going to be a low/mid/high tier piece of niche content or is it intended to cover a very broad range of skilling/content.

Het's Oasis is functionally a 1-skillcape for Hunter and Farming. Is it best in slot? No.
Agility is aimed as being an option for a tier/range for the skill.

You wouldn't have gotten that kind of consideration back in the day.
Also, it's not something like Runespan where it completely demolishes the core of a training method introducing a whole new meta onto itself.
Burial Powder did crater the need for gilded altars in the PoH, but you have had other options to train for years now (Ectofuntus, Wildy Chaos Altar, Priff Cleansing Stones, Cremation on bonfires)

All that said, I do sincerely hope Mod Shogun and the Ninjas or other devs have something in mind.

I would love to see their dev blogs/design diaries on what they would do to revamp stuff. Even at the conceptual level.

And I'm hoping some of the ideas we've tossed out really does meet the current criteria for the Ninja Team's objective.

The prif mines should have luminite spawns. Look at what is there; nothing was changed with the mining update. Obviously they should be added.

agree with this.
mith/coal is kinda pointless for something effectively requires 75 mining and smithing to access

Back to a ninja-esque suggestion:
- make it so the Plain Woodcutting Urn (bis F2P WC urn) works on Level 60 trees instead of Level 58. Yews are current top tier at Level 60 on F2P

Yes! I never understood the weird level 58 limit...

Runecrafting

F2P
1) let F2P access all of the second floor of runespan or remove/disable what F2P can't siphon
10 years and it has been annoying (even insulting) that I get a message saying I need to be a member to access this feature to siphon a Law or Nature Esshound.
Please. Just stop it.
Let us siphon everything on the second floor or remove the from the F2P servers
2) Let F2P create Chaos Runes and access the Chaos Runecrafting Altar

P2P
1) let us create Soul Runes the normal way. stop requiring the use of the strange device.
2) change the device into a weekly way to make Vis Wax. keep the mechanic and XP. But players can get like 10-20 wax from it each week. It would require 90 runecrafting to use.

Allow the quick chat feature for restoration of artefacts to continue above 1000.

This should also be applicable to tetracompasses.

It seems to be a very arbitrary limit that is not necessary, and there are many players who wish to record how many artefacts they've restored.

If this is not possible, allow us to prestige it every 1k artefacts.
