You're right, it is getting tiresome. You did make good points, my stance on it isn't as heavy.

This game however does need new players, the current tutorial does not do a good job at bringing in the TIktok generation with their low attention spans.

If Jagex wants Dragon Slayer to be the big f2p quest.

The quest needs to be fully voiced, and hold the players hand for the entire quest period.

They basically have a mobile only tutorial which was supposed at one point to be rolled out to the main game... dunno what happened there.

Jagex gave up on voice acting long ago. They do for certain moments, but they haven't fully voice acted quests for 8 years or so now. But yeah - DS should be that big thing for f2p.

Btw - wasn't too wrong with my necromancy rune prediction - it's 1/20/40/60.

The problem with the mobile only tutorial, it wasn't a part of the main game at all.

They stopped doing voice acting because it hurts the development of the quests not because they gave up. Snice voice acting would be one of the 1st things you would do and can now can no longer add in funny lines or fix up a line due to a bug.

Succession had voice acting and a song, came out in 2022.

The Needle Skips was fully voiced quest came out in 2018, to celebrate OP number 400.

Reading the new Necromancy news.

The T1 Necro weapons and amour will be f2p.

Spirit Runes at Level 1 RC and Bone Rune at level 20 RC. Most likely these will be f2p items.

Maybe a new F2p Prayer.

The Blood Pact will be useful quest to do for Nerco.

Of course - most of their newer quests are partially voice acted for special moments - which songs often enough are - menaphos had quite a few, the epic of bukalla, the arc...

Fully voice acted quests just were extremely rare after Fate of the Gods is what I meant. With 'gave up' I basically meant they do not deem it as worth the effort - thus the reduction to special moments. You just need to compare what was in 2012, 2013 and 2014 - and afterwards.

Haven't exactly seen how itemisation will work like due to their reveal post (I guess it's 10 tier increments at lower levels and then 5-ish on higher ones?). Are you really just getting the t1 weapon? As for the runes I think the second one may be possible - not guaranteed. Potion will likely be p2p only, prayer I could think they'll give you the first one (since necromancy isn't deemed an equal combat style in f2p), but not all of them. Focus will be on curses anyway, since the last one is available on level 46 already - so it won't have a counterpart to piety.

Hi rikornak. Nice to meet you!

In your thread, does not mention which enemy npc would become f2p.

I made a thread called Green/Blue Dragons in non Wild areas. Mages and Melee can grab resources like mystics and runite armor respectively without need going there to wild. Why can't ranger have to loot dragonhide to craft armor.

We already have red dragons/hellhound/greater demon in the wild, let these enemies be exclusive. Green dragon are only in wild while Blue dragon are in wild in f2p. It should not be only place to use anti-dragon shield after dragon slayer only to hunt dragons in wild. I propose green and blue added in non-wild area. maybe high level resource dungeon. If they need exclusive wilderness enemy, I am not sure.

Please take a look at my thread.

Hi there.

I don't have any current suggestions of what NPCs should be made f2p, since most of the essential things free players are able to wear already are obtainable on free worlds - I suggested back then green dragons (blue ones weren't even present in the wild at that time and only added as part of a f2p extravaganza later on) should be made f2p for self-sufficiency. More would be part of expansions or at least extended rule sets (i.e. free players would need something as part of new equipment they could get access to), which is a bit out of the scope of this thread.

With PvP being non-enforced nowadays I wouldn't see it as super important to have them available elsewhere, but I could see some value in something like a mid level combat dungeon or so, in which they also could spawn. Which is also a bit out of the scope of this thread though.

Funnily enough - green dragons almost are wilderness exclusive even in p2p. All others that are not, are either the much more powerful brutal variant - or just in such a remote location, you just won't go for them. Blue dragons are fairly plentiful on the other hand though.

Any particular reason why you do not want to fight them in the wildy, though? As said PvP is optional for almost a year now.

Hi Rikornak,

Ok, I did not know that the wild is safer. I just want more options that do not require me to go wild. Ankou can be battled in the stronghold of security, and with obviously, giant mole drop mystic clothes for level 50 magic equipment. Runite material can be grabbed outside of the wild (e.g. mining guild) for level 50 melee equipment. Rangers don't have the option to grab the material to make level 50 range armor outside of the wild. I also wanted to use anti-dragonfire shield after dragon slayer to used in non wild area. Otherwise the shield is useful for only the wild which would be limited.

I've got another idea!

Is there anything special about Traverley Dungeon? Like quest-related or special occasions? I think this dungeon should be partially F2P. Reason: Most enemies are already on F2P. Make
Dusty Key and NPCs members only
, which makes half the dungeon only for members. Monsters that should only be members are the magic axe, poison scorpion, chaos drawf, and chaos druid. Enemies in areas further away that require the use of the Dusty Key will not be shown like Hellhounds. I would like to renovate to include the blue dragon room and move the lock door a bit further. If that is not possible, relocate the resource dungeon within bounds that do not require the key. This gives another option to face giant bats, lesser demons, and blue dragons.

Poison Spiders are in F2P, according to the wiki. Correct me if I am wrong, but F2P does not have a way to cure or protect against poison. Does the poison spider in F2P in Edgeville Dungeon and Lava Maze Dungeon use poison attacks?

Hi rikornak!

Since you talk about expansion. Expansion as a subscription or like a one-time unlock key like FFXIV expansions. That is a good idea. An unlock key expansion should cost more than a member's subscription. However, dragon equipment should be higher tier for members only, and
tier 60 should be available in the expansion
. Some equipment needs to be shuffled, like dragon and crystal equipment, which is the point of membership. However, having an expansion called
Kharidian Lands
would be the best of both worlds. You need to elaborate on this idea. I support this.

If it's just for grabbing up the armour, you can get it in the champion's guild - which is considering the off crafting requirements the way to go for most players. As said I see where you're coming from, but considering the available access it certainly shouldn't be top priority.

The Taverley Dungeon per se would be something I could imagine to become f2p content eventually, but as it currently stands it's not a worthwhile addition - just another thing that could be made f2p for the sake of it. Magic Axes drop iron salvage, poison scorpions drop nothing, chaos druids an assortment of herbs (which could be more interesting if f2p had access to 20 herblore at least) and chaos dwarves some rather random things. You just have more interesting things to fight as it stands - especially considering how big this dungeon is and how long it would take you to get somewhere without agility shortcuts. Most of the dungeon isn't even interesting to members - with the the exception of having lots of black knights in one place to get your white knight rank up, blue and black dragons, hellhounds and the two obelisks - the remainder are one-off things like quests and yeah you visit that thing every once in a while for a clue. I general I think they could replace quite a few of the monsters in the eastern part of the dungeon by more appealing targets.

If poisonous monsters spawn on f2p, they're just not poisonous there. OS even has a low levelled boss fight, that loses a mechanic due to this.

With expansion in this context I am rather refering to a bigger area (or even just cluster of things) added to the game - especially something that wasn't accessible before. Jagex officially called menaphos back then an expansion, since it was a fair bit bigger than what we're usually getting as updates - they haven't used the term afterwards, but I think a few things easily could be compared to that - most lately the city of senntisten in 2021 - maybe also that necromancy city in august.

The desert also is something I'd rather add late (if at all). It just hasn't much value currently. Most of the quests are locked somehow and most of the skilling requires higher levels in p2p skills than what you could achieve even with 20 levels.

I mean the easiest things to expand on are entrana (law rune crafting and glassblowing) and zanaris (cosmic runes). Void knights would be uncomplicated as well (for a suit a basic void knight armour). Lumbridge Swamp Caves with a bit preparation ahead of it.

Want something with a lot of oumph? Add TzHaar City. While I wouldn't give obsidian weaponry (just yet, albeit I even would rather buff it to t65 to get it a bit ahead of dragon and orikalkum - the city would certainly a point, which could justify a t60 expansion) and onyx jewellery to free players, I certainly would do so with the cape - finally fixing the issue, that the best 5 capes in f2p are some 10 year long discontinued MTX item (and thus not even available to ironmen who got that thing) and things that require your account to be 20, 15, 10 or 5 years old respectively. Maybe even allow them to do the fight caves to give them a shot at the fire cape.
