Strong support! What I recommend doing is making Fish Flingers F2P as it's been pretty much dead since the release of Deep Sea Fishing. Other expansion areas could include:


1. Port Phasmatys - Keeping F2Pers iwithin the walls of the Port which could be accessed only through charter boat on F2P would offer up a new area of Morytania with limited stores and a nearby furnace.

2. Entrana – great location that gather materials for glass blowing on f2p

3. Zanaris – after entrana, would expose newplayers to the fairy tale quest line and the legendary Lost City

4. Waiko (Impressing the Locals) - Getting to the main island of the Arc makes players aware of the islands that are missing or otherwise inacessible that are locked behind a subscription
5. Trial Player owned Ports- Basically voyages up to the arc for players to try out ports before getting a bond or membership

6. Tzhaar City – new place under Karamja volcano, little here for f2p to do but plenty of TzHaar to explain what members can

7. Buyers and Cellars/Thieves guild – minor expansion that would get the first room for players who have gotten 5 thieving
8. Mazcab and Call of the Ancestors – makes accessible the lore surrounding Raids

These are all suggestions that Jagex could implement over the coming years without breaking the game significantly.

Hey and thank you for your input.

I would try to keep this thread focused on gameplay improvements rather than opening up new parts of the game world, but there are certainly some interesting catches, which I'd like to comment:

- Fish flingers could be fairly interesting as yet another f2p based D&D. Maybe they could only be granted one free ticket per day as opposed to two.
- Entrana and Zanaris are relatively clear, also for crafting law and cosmic runes respective. The latter should receive some graphical polish first.
- As for Waiko and the Tzhaar City I do not think it really would be a good idea to open up content that solely exist to advertise membership (like those mercenaries at the vorago cave). To grant a peak on p2p areas those gnomecopter tours would have been a better tool. Impressing the Locals could be a nice thing though.
- Player-owned ports are definetely too high levelled to be good f2p content
- Thieves guild could be interesting, it would both fit level and area wise, but should go hand-in-hand with a level extension (otherwise we would have yet again this waiko/tzhaar issue)
- Mazcab and Call of the Ancestors could also work.

How are you planning on teasing a minigame? Too much dev. Also, they shouldn't access chimes selling, so nothing to in Waiko.

Against, as it would give f2p access to tokkul and tier 60. they might add a f2p quest which references the city though.

- Allow free players to level p2p only non-elite skills to 20. Make features available to f2p wherever reasonable.
5 is way too low to serve as a good teaser, a somewhat higher cap grants the opportunity to try the skills out properly


I'll be honest. I don't think most players are tempted by skills, rather they are tempted by the larger game world. Maybe I'm wrong ofcourse, however, that is just my impression. I could also forsee Jagex making all skills (except invention) unrestriced and having content up to level 50 for f2p, just for the reason of making the gameplay feel more streamlined.

- Corrupt Equipment now lasts for 1 hour and only degrades while fighting


Here is an alternative. An interesting suggestion to the thematic tone of corrupt gear in general, not just corrupt dragon. Corrupt armour degrades after 30 minutes of wearing, however, when the player is in the wilderness the player gain a set-effect that hinders degradation.

- Make Retribution, Redemption and Smite available to f2p


-I support the idea of making more prayers available to f2p as long as it doesn't neccesarily outcompete existing prayers. However, I find smite in particular to be an "unfun"game mechanic, and would perhaps bring more toxicity to the wilderness.

-Retribution seems like a fun ability, that could have it's nieche funny uses!

-As for redemption I don't particularly care/mind :)

I don't think we should have bonus experience except at bonus experience weekends. Reason being that it will make the game feel less simple (unncessesary mechanic).

- Free Players have once again access to Tuska's Back via Wizard Chambers. They can play the Anima Islands D&D, but not access Mazcab and the Desert. They have full access to all rewards except for Tuska's Wrath.
- All WE Abilities are changed to tradeable Ability Tomes (drops included (GWD/cremation)), which can be obtained more than once.

Thematicly I don't like having that D&D on F2P for the reason that is doesn't feel like runescape, it seems like a break in theme. However I agree that the abilities and armours should be available for F2P players that didn't participate in the world event, and further I see that the D&D is the easiest way of implementation.

Basic balancing. There are also other points that I agree and disagree with but, they are minor in importance for me.

Hey thanks a lot for your input- I'll go for your points one by one:

- Skills:

I do not see an issue if certain skills (also non-elite ones) remain p2p exclusive. Fletching is something that had to be changed to f2p, as it restricted functionality the two other combat styles had at their hand. That 5 level trial exists for the reason to give free players a glance of what the game expansion has to offer - but I just do not think you get too much of a feeling at something that is automatically completed after their respective quests and/or a few minutes of skilling. I think the option to make more of your character is as interesting, as to discover new regions.

Well and while at it some slight feature extension could be made (see herblore).

- Corrupt equipment:

Yeah, the other corrupt sets would've been implied in there as well. The absolute minimum should be getting rid of that degrade on wearing mechanic (as it is absolutely asinine, degradation is absolutely fine, but not for just wearing that stuff), but whether it is a duration buff - or removing degradation in the wilderness would be an extra. I personally think it still should degrade in there, as it is likely the only place where you would use that stuff in the first place. It is the most powerful armour available and it should have that downside, an hour of combat still wouldn't be that long.

- Prayers:

I just do not see a reason why they are p2p only - they're fairly low levelled and aren't quest locked. As they all fulfill a different niche than the classic stat/protection prayers, they hardly would outperform the existing stuff. If some rebalancing would be in order it also should be done (but I guess the prayers are as they are for years now)

- Bxp:

I think a player who can handle playing minigames, should also be able to handle an automatically used mechanic. It doesn't really add another layer of complexity.

She is an alien creature who crashed in our world. I think having different themes can contribute to the charm of a game (that doesn't imply themes should go too funky). It would certainly be something different than the stuff free players normally see, but it actually could work as this 'there is more'-feeling.
