A few things i noticed from my f2p hcim.

cant make darts despite f2p can make but behind a p2p quest
and the lack of storing gold in rune box/furnace despite f2p can do it if they do a p2p quest

Yeah - I am not really a fan of benefits for former members either, but I wouldn't want to rob those quests of their main attraction to be fair.

I could imagine giving free players a different unlock condition though - maybe something similiar to the crafting guild bank chest suggestion, which either could be unlocked by completing the hard falador tasks or reaching level 99 in crafting. I'll make my mind about that.

Woodcutting

- Let F2P have access to Magic Trees at the Mage Training Arena and in the Varrock Sewers Resource Dungeon
- Evil Magic Trees now appear for F2P in Evil Trees D&D
- Let F2P have access to at least 1 of the resourceless Woodcutting training methods such as Overgrown Idols or Choking Ivy. As they produce no resources (ie: logs) it shouldn't be an issue. Alternatively consider giving access to the Sawmill Training method for F2P

Thanks a lot for your input.

- Generally I do fully agree with magic trees should be available to free players - albeit obviously in a fixed form - including both cutting rates, as well as their level requirement.
- Evil Magic tree also should be included for sure.

- As for the alternative methods - while ivy is widely available in free areas, the idol certainly is not as it currently stands. They all do have in common being extremely high levelled - way past what Jagex deems the reasonal-to-reach level in f2p, which basically is around level 50, with a couple of exceptions going higher than that.
- Furthermore I am not really sure of the value regarding the sawmill training. While it easily would be available to free players, it's extremely high levelled, it offers no rewards and its experience gains are lacking at best.

I generally think it would be better to fix the things, that currently are available to free players, rather than making things f2p, just because it's generally possible. That said I propose the following:

- Reduce the level requirements to cut Oak, Willow, Maple, Yew and Magic Trees to 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 respectively.
- Drastically increase the cutting rates of Yew Trees and above upon using a fitting hatchet (i.e. adamant+ for yew, rune+ for magic), since this is the basic reason why regular woodcutting above the acadia tree (historically even the teak tree) was always broken.
- Yew and Magic trees will be changed to a respawn mechanic similiar to elder trees - it will take longer for them to respawn - forcing you to cycle locations - but other players no longer can exhaust your trees.
- Certain p2p trees are adjusted in a similiar fashion - teak to 25, mahogany to 45, elder to 60
- Other alternative methods (i.e. ivy, bamboo,...) remain unaltered

This won't include any other changes, such as core trees above level 60 - I am just currently about fixing the existing mess.

Thoughts?

Some things I disagree with or would like to make better:

-I think members' skills should remain at level5 for F2P. Increasing the level cap would dramatically change the F2P game. While I think it would be better, there are some in the F2P community that would not be happy with this change as it would change the integrity of F2P.

-I agree in principle with fletching staves, however, the cheapness of such staves would make other staves relatively moot.

-With the prayers, like members' skills, there are free players who would oppose this change.

-There are already gravite knives, I don't see adding crossbows as entirely necessary.

-Expanding enchanting would mean making members' jewelry in effect f2p. I personally thing these jewelry should stay p2p, again, because it would radically change the experience.

- You can buy defense potions in the Warriors' Guild and the Varrock Apothecary will make strength pots for you.

-I am against making prayer pots p2p-only again. They have some use in fighting F2P bosses like KBD and Wilderness PVP. The change was also not game breaking for F2P.

-I am opposed to smithing defenders. If you want more, you should spend time at the Warrior's Guild.

-Zaff should stick to staves, but Betty should sell splitbark, at a price comparable to its ge value.

-F2P should not be able to use BXP outside of DXP. The P2P offering should be superior, and F2P still has a use for them anyway.

-If Tuska's back is F2P, ghost hunter will need some new niche.

-I don't think more corrupt items should be added, they would only be useful in PVP. Melee has corrupt dragon, magic has the battle robes set, and ranged is a pretty cheap set.

I think the rest of the suggestions are good though. Thanks for posting.

Thanks a lot for your input - I'll go by your points one-by-one

- Generally going against changes solely for the reason something has always been like this isn't a good reason at all. We would still be running around with adamant 2h swords if that mentality was already around in 2001 - probably not even - the game would be long dead by now.

It's a matter of fact the level 5 trial was introduced to allow free players to try out p2p skills - and archaeology (that proposal is older than that skill) did this for 20 levels since those 5 levels failed to do this - you will mess around with those skills for a couple of minutes, hit level 5 - and never engage with them again. 20 levels certainly won't introduce anything game breaking, but it can be nice every once in a while to be able to make a potion for yourself or so.
Literally the same for the prayers - the sole reason why they're p2p is they were desperate in need of p2p features back in the day.

- As for the staves - why again is it fine for rangers and melee fighters to make their own equipment from ultra basic materials - the latter even up to tier 90?
- A gravite crossbow (either 2h/DW) wouldn't be too important, but could be useful against bolt weak enemies. A 2h one even would be something without alternative right now. Not super needed of course - but is this a reason for it not to be introduced? I will restrict in to a two handed variant only, in order to prevent redundancy and to keep it in an entirely new reward space. Removed it entirely, since the other styles also just offer 1h/2h and I am proposing a t55 crossbow in some other place.
- If the effect isn't relevant for free players it's basically just cosmetic and/or some contribution for the general economy. If the effect is generally useable by free players it's literally a cool extra for free players to make use of things they have full access to.

- Buying a level 1 potion in a guild which requires either to be level 99 in either one of two skills or to have a sum of 130 levels in both is not good game design. The apothecary in OS for instance is an option to make quite a couple more of low levelled potions for f2p. But since we're in RS3 we do have herblore available - so making use of that is better than messing around with some unused NPC from 2001. Or some guild, that is way higher the content you want it to stem it from right now.
- That's why I am proposing a well obtainable f2p prayer potion, that is basically identical in functionality to the not-so-well obtainable prayer potion that's currently existing.
- You currently have to destroy any defender you have (even the certainly significantly more difficult to obtain t70, 80 and 90 variants), when you want to re-gain a defender lower levelled than the dragon one. You still need to earn a certain defender once, it just makes it easier to regain them in the future. Fun fact - they even messed up the slayer collection log first by not including lower levelled defenders when you destroyed them before it was released - fairly sure some even destroyed their higher levelled variants in order to be able to re-farm those before Jagex fixed it.
- Zaff runs a shop for magic equipment in general for many years now. I do not disagree with you in there - but since both have shops for magic equipment, simply both can sell splitbark.
- It's a matter of fact free players can earn BXP in various places, why shouldn't they be able to make use of it whenever they like - that doesn't devalue membership, since those have superior methods to make use it - and to earn it in the first place.
- What do you mean with a new niche for ghost hunter?

- I wouldn't exactly think corrupt items to be as important, that best in slot equipment is at least comparable to one another - it's basically the same with our t92 armours in p2p - you certainly won't wear it as day-to-day armour. For an ironman it could be more interesting though - they do not need to take regard of economical viablity in there. Also a part of that is making corrupt items slightly better to use (it would last for a full hour of combat - still short, but much more than 20 minutes of plain wearing )

Again thanks a lot for your post - maybe my reply helped you to understand why I see those things as important.
