I couldn't get exactly the same - unsure where the original picture was taken and I couldn't get the skybox right either, but here you go:
Not sure if it's just the picture but looks way better then older phats, more shiny.
Its just the pic. Look at everything else in the photo its all better looking.
^ LOL agreed looks Wayyyyyy better like it’s gilded and made of actual gold wow royal status. omfg I swear wtf the old phats look like a piece of…paper now GG RIP xD honestly I wouldn’t mind paying like 1b for it on release in exchange for like a T92

The whole game is built on some people having achievements that others don't have. It's not longer a serious achievement is everyone has it. 120 skills would be a lot less exciting if most people had them (and sadly, as time passes, more people will have 120 skills).
The achievement argument is the same for rares (hence the word "rare"
, which is all about owning something that people have to sacrifice a lot/work hard to achieve.
Communism will not work on Runescape.
What are you talking about? Do you even know what communism is? Lol I am not proposing a public pool where everybody owns a piece of the market. But what you want is oligarchy, where a small population controls the market. What I want is fair and free trade, where there is an influx of items coming into the game to prevent monopoly (ring a bell?). But of course, you have some skin in the game so it is not to your benefit any type of release or rerelease.
Like everybody with a very weak argument, if you cannot win, you attack the account creation. “He is an alt” “extremist” lol. I say it is extreme to ask players to spend hundreds of hours for the “possibility” to achieve the goal of a rare (if any, because according to your logic, there are not enough phats for every player)
If you really want to achieve something in a game, try playing? Reaper title? Skills? Boss log? If you want to treat the game like your life depends on it, be my guess. But don’t pull the rest of us into that mess haha.. If history serves as any proof that Jagex is moving more and more towards quality of life is the same example you mentioned in your post about skills being “devalued”, which I don’t agree. If you decided to waste hundreds of hours playing a game to obtain a meaningless object in a virtual game, that’s on you! Don’t assume than the rest of us don’t have something better to do than play runescape. We come to play the game, not live in it

Pepe, giving the players everything they want is not a good business model. Good players are rightly worried there is an exact replica golden recolour of an item that was once 190b being released in a few days. Listen to Trip.
Why not? If it proves successful in monetary terms for their company, then it is an amazing business model.
What concerns me is the lack of understanding with how rs3 works by the other poster. Players were guaranteed that rares were discontinued. Making them untradeable might be fine, or reintroducing some number that were banned, but giving them to everyone is completely unfair. The entire game has worked around players striving for rares. There is no other lasting achievement in rs.
I started in 2005. 50k/hr in f2p and 300k/hr in members was good. It was actually pretty easy to get a rare, but they were seen as this permanent thing that would rise. It took about a week with gwd1 release to get a phat, if not less, especially after max combat was common from portal slaying. But hats are old now. D claw release was another easy time. 85 slayer also easy. Or double nat runecrafting with runners.
I made super weapon poisons for hours to get one. I had people working for me. It was a big business.
Players have collected rares at their own risk, just like some hoarded tokens. They are discontinued but that does not mean they cannot release other rares with different colors. But of course it gives some players a “sense of superiority”. Now Sea King wants to come and make it about communism and extremist views lol. But didn’t you say you were above the average players because of a blue virtual paper hat? Cmon dude! Just say it affects you and that’s why you oppose it.
And again, if you had to work thousands of hours for a phat, that’s on you. Sorry but you made that choice. New players (who will be the future of the game and target audience for a company like Jagex) are not into that grind. And Jagex has realized that. Hence why skilling is easier now, why players like Zezima stopped playing competitively (he got a life lol) or why their are releasing a brand new,
better looking
golden phat
The reason people are excited about gold partyhat is because its confirmed to be permanately discontinued and if it wasn't no one would care. Rereleases of any items don't bring in new players.
I need my blue charms back.

Amen.
I cannot for the life of me manage to catch Covid. Perhaps it's because I didn't get vaxxed? The travails of those lacking immunity.

Haha preach not sure why politics and government are even being applied to RS xD but yea oligarchy sounds right. TBH I'm not even sure how something like a 120 cape becomes more devalued just because other people have it. Everyone should have a fair shot at something and if players are just that good or committed then so be it let's celebrate the success together! We should be promoting inclusion not exclusion xD

Nope.
I never knew it was another DR until ppl starting saying so thus i was interested in the item because its a cosmetic.
So please dont start talking for others as that never ends well.
Sure
you
might feel this way but dont start thing thats how everyone else feels.
Attempt 2 at a comparison below. Everything is on Ultra. I can't find the exact spot where Jagex took this screenshot in the Everlight area - Jagex look quite high up, on a circular platform with some kind of plinth next to them.
I also can't work out how they got the green reflection the way they did. I can't increase my settings any higher and I can't find the exact spot
If anyone knows the exact spot please let me know and I'll take another one, but if you zoom in on the Jagex model hand you can see a building in the distance, and the character looks very high in the air. I think they set up a platform with something reflective on the other side to showcase the hat better
Edit: cropped picture
