The main desirability of owning a partyhat is because many don't have/can't afford it in the same way owning a luxury car is something many don't have/can't afford it. The 'have nots' will always outnumber the elite 'haves', but the 'have nots' only want something like a rare so they can be elite 'haves'. A few years back, there was this talk about 'bank bidders' but Jagex ultimately realized that it would damage the game to diminish the value and appeal of partyhats and so cancelled it. A partyhat is only valuable because it is an item symbolizing that you are one of the 'haves'.

Dude you really think you are somebody because of a paper hat don't you? Superiority complex alert lol. Step down of that ladder or you might find yourself falling harder than the prices of phats when Jagex release (or rerelease?) new ones (which they will do as long as they make money from it ;) )

Unlike IRL, getting ahead on RS is much easier. Just ask aus cricket, who returned to RS from a long break with a few billion gp and now has enough for a partyhat set after just a few months of hard work.

Are you even listening to yourself? Getting ahead in RS3? Relax man, it is just a game lol and the phat is just a hat. No mad respect, or admirers or "wealth and status" haha. Just sad to think some people really come to a game to fill them with what they are clearly lacking irl: Self confidence.

I judge people by their character, not by what they have on top of their head (or what they drive irl lol!)

Go enjoy life :) hours in front of a computer playing video games to buy a paper hat is not what I would recommend to any player.

Reply to Theos-

Do you think the rise of original 6 phats 6x over the last year or so is a problem with the game economy? You seem as if rares have followed some normal acceptable rise while almost everything else in the game has risen at the same time. Where have the coins come from? 7th phat that almost matches an original, wtf. Going to be junk, grasping, lame update. Fix the game economy would be splendid maybe less thrown at the wall to see if it sticks.

You can only create 1 partyhat per account.

If you take out low altable shards like premier club clue scrolls the miniquest and marks of war that leaves you with 7 shards. So there is definitely going to be under 100k of them.

1. you get for free from wise old man
2. quest which the previous ones have 0 requirements to complete im going to say this wont have any either.
3. Croesus for marks of war?
4. Combat skills - killing rats
5. Gathering skills - fish shrimp
6. Artisans skills - cook shrimp
7. Support skills - pickpocket men
8. 30m gp.

all those can be done easily unless there isn't any Croesus public games anymore.

otherwise it doesn't mention in the news post for premier if it has to be gold or if you get a shard with just bronze/silver packages also. - if so it would unoffiially set the "alt" minimum price of gold phats to be 200m+ minimum (5 bonds 40m+ each for bronze) [230m+ if you buy the 30m shard]

and for skills it doesnt say you need a certain level minimum req to get shards, so even if it's a lvl 3 with no xp you'd imagine you can get shards from the things listed to the right of each skill set.
Don't trust any pc's listed, any advice or talks between posts on ID forums anymore , the Manips are let loose, especially the main one with 15+ accounts posting acting as different people.. do your own research

ITT people think a phat is a symbol of status when kids can just swipe plastic for them anyway...
I used to wanna look cool in game too but i ain't 12 anymore

I still care about my look ingame, though that doesnt requiere a partyhat.
I still remember all the traders wearing those tight blue shorts in w2.
Maybe they thought and wanted to show "i dont wanna look cool and i dont care for looks"
But thats not true, while horribly looking they thought they where cool with their blue shorts. If you dont care about how you look then you should be the default character. Though even that is a sort of fashion statement in itself. But yes,not everyone cares about how they look thats true. But most people do to some extend and i dont think there is anything wrong with that.

Anyway,do people really think it will be over 100k hats?
I dont know why would jagex do that, what would be the point of that. It would be like the chromatic partyhat or things like that. They want to give something special, and to be special it has to be rare to some extend. Though then many players would miss out which would also defy the point of it. Maybe they just want to take attention away from the other hats i dont know.

30m a shard so 240m fair value at the minimum. Will prob go lower if it indeed ends up beeing 100k hats.

I don't think the intention is for them to be as rare as people might want them to be. When the og phats dropped they were considered worthless because everyone had so many of them. The only way these will grow in value to be anywhere near the old hats is through time of gaining new players and losing old players who have X number of them.

Everyone knows panic impacts prices so of course it will impact prices. Nobody knows what it will do in the long term. This hat is simply a fashion item and will never reach the symbolism of original phats for many years. People wear phats for wealth status, and this phat will not be seen as a status of wealth for probably over a decade. When the hype settles, we'll then see the result of how this will impact original partyhats.

I think there is potential that people wearing this golden hat could lead to people wanting the yellow more than other phats, just because many will wear a golden phat and the yellow will stand out as a competitive comparison to people wearing a look-a-like. The thought that this draws negative attention to the yellow phat could actually end up being quite the opposite.

Interesting. I am sure there will be ALOT more then most people think.
I havent been on the game in almost a year and have returned for the Phat, with all my alts, plus my wife returned with her acc's, plus my cousins with their acc's and my brother with his acc's and his frie...I think I made my point.
Many old players with years and years of accounts will return and earn it on any account they can. People who live on OSRS will come over, earn it and sell it to benefit their other acc.
People will end up spending more GP obtaining the Phat then it will be actually worth, and then, after quite some time, it will eventually go up once we all get bored of the game again and take our Phats with us.
I'm glad they are finally spicing up the game again, and actually giving us a reason to play, even if it is short-lived.

I still wait at the general store for a phat. One day, one last phat will be sold to the general store, for me to rebuy.
I cannot for the life of me manage to catch Covid. Perhaps it's because I didn't get vaxxed? The travails of those lacking immunity. :(
