In regards to the rarity argument some people say the number of rares impact the prices - I don't think this is true. Aesthetics has a factor too and ultimately drive the price. If there was only 10 fish masks in the game I don't see how that's even a flex when it's so ugly. I wouldn't even want it for 1 gp haha - hey but to each their own right?

I respectfully disagree. Rarity certainly has the biggest impact on deciding an items price. You used the fish mask example, which is a tradeable "discontinued" item. This item is wearable. If there were only 10 fish masks in game, fish masks would be extremely expensive. Obviously if an item looks amazing, that helps the value but it is not the biggest factor in an items price.

I am going to use the Christmas Cracker and Half Full Wine Jug as an example. The Christmas Cracker is the most expensive tradeable item in the game. You cannot even wear these items to show it off. They are the rarest tradeable items in the game. So if a Christmas Cracker is not aesthetically pleasing and you cannot even wear it, how is it the most expensive tradeable item in the game?

u can still show it off in trade :D

That is true but the whole point is it is nothing special aesthetically and the majority of its value comes from its extreme rarity, not its looks. That is why I believe the golden partyhat will be cheap because of how many will come into the game. I also believe they will not affect the partyhat market as much as people believe.

probably start around 200m first week then crash down to low 100s, then they will probably end up somewhere around lower rares like hweens and santas/scythe after a year or so. really depends on the whales hoarding them or not. id say there will be probably around 4000+ introduced into the game if the shards take about an hour each to get

You have a good point some people care about rarity for collection but I think majority of people just care about looks. The phat trade is a dying market. Only the people who have rares are trading amongst each other. Even the best elite pvmers have a hard time catching up to the prices of phats. Why would the average rs players chase after something they can't obtain? If they start releasing gold, black, and cyan colored phats, I can guarantee that will sway a whole bunch of people to have 0 motivation including me since they already look so good. At the end of the day it's supply and demand. The demand will eventually die out when rich players with rares leave RS.

LOOOOOOOOOOOL LMAFO
Do you think because 8 shards are needed only 4000 + will get it? Try adding another 0 mate...

I think you've forgotten that bots exist... I can guarantee there will be 4000+ bots created for this content. In fact, this update is going to bring a whale of short term bots...
Jagex knows this... They're intentionally making this members-only content because they know it's going to bring an influx of new accounts with memberships with the sole purpose of creating a gold phat. This is nothing but a business move to boost memberships during the holiday period. It's purely an accounting move to make the business look good on paper. 10,000 bots = 10,000 14 day memberships = Profit for jagex.

Nothing else... If Jagex's real intention was to provide a cheap alternative to players they wouldn't have made a cap per account. You can urge that this cap was to prevent too many golden phat from entering the game, which does make sense but they could have put other measures around it. Such as releasing them as a raffle and creating a max supply such as (current phat circulation x 10)

Over 100k+ golden phats will be created and bought up by whales and will be used as currency like Santa hats. But the real motive behind this is to drive up membership sales, knowingly the majority will be bots.

Be sure to keep an eye on the account creation # once this content is live.

More than 100k+...every noob/bot p2p account will be either buying or grinding out a golden phat.

Golden phat is no more a threat to classic phats than a Toyota car is a threat to Rolls Royce because they cater to two very different classes of consumers.
If you are willing to chuck your most precious possessions like phats because someone said words like crashing/dying/quitting and then find yourself unable to rebuy for what you sold for, then you don't deserve to own a phat.
