It will be interesting to see where this partyhat ends up in price. This new gold partyhat will be accessible to anyone who is willing to put in a very reasonable amount of effort. As the original partyhats continue to tread upwards in value and are traded by a far smaller circle of players, I commend Jagex on finding a solution to cater toward folks who are interested in new rares/discontinued items without affecting the older ones directly.

With Jagex reintroducing tokens due to concerns over accessibility, it seems fair that they are testing the waters with new holiday items. I understand this is a special 20 year commencement item, but I hope to see Jagex continue to introduce new rares/holiday items regularly. It will also help to divide the amount of wealth concentrated within a few items if there's a platter of items for players to collect/invest in.

People will farm gold partyhats on a couple of alts but they're not going to be the next fish masks. My prediction is there will be 30k-50k golden phats that enter the game. Rs3 playercount per day is around 35-42k. I need my blue charms back.

The main desirability of owning a partyhat is because many don't have/can't afford it in the same way owning a luxury car is something many don't have/can't afford it. The 'have nots' will always outnumber the elite 'haves', but the 'have nots' only want something like a rare so they can be elite 'haves'. A few years back, there was this talk about 'bank bidders' but Jagex ultimately realized that it would damage the game to diminish the value and appeal of partyhats and so cancelled it. A partyhat is only valuable because it is an item symbolizing that you are one of the 'haves'.
If you are willing to chuck your most precious possessions like phats because someone said words like crashing/dying/quitting and then find yourself unable to rebuy for what you sold for, then you don't deserve to own a phat.

You would need to adjust that number by the average hours played per player. I'm guessing it's somewhere around 2-3 hours. So 35k divided by (2.5 hours/24 hours), or roughly 350k golden partyhats.

But this is just based on current numbers. If more accounts come online because of this event, then this is likely just a lower bound.

You can only create 1 partyhat per account.

If you take out low altable shards like premier club clue scrolls the miniquest and marks of war that leaves you with 7 shards. So there is definitely going to be under 100k of them.
I need my blue charms back.

Most of these concerns will turn out to be moot anyways. It's not like blood dyes became undesirable when ice dye came out.

At the end of the day, a classic partyhat is a sign of extreme wealth.

If it makes you feel happy, wear a golden/brass partyhat or royal crown but you won't be fooling or impressing anyone. You would have a higher chance of impressing someone at first glance with a borrowed blue partyhat.

Yes, that doesn't affect the calculations I wrote above.

Unlike IRL, getting ahead on RS is much easier. Just ask aus cricket, who returned to RS from a long break with a few billion gp and now has enough for a partyhat set after just a few months of hard work. If you are willing to chuck your most precious possessions like phats because someone said words like crashing/dying/quitting and then find yourself unable to rebuy for what you sold for, then you don't deserve to own a phat.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but upto now, they haven't actually confirmed if there is any mitigation for new accounts? With them only allowing 1 per account, they are already trying to severely reduce the amount that enters the game, so adding something to stop brand new accounts creating tons, will be likely imo.

Personally, i own a ton of wealth, but would prefer a Gold Phat to go with my Trim Comp cape. I'm not sure if i'm just an odd carrot, but it's only the looks which are appealing to me, not the price tag.

You are only speaking for your self there, i know several people who dont feel the need to look like dice host while they could easily afford plenty of hats. Partyhats are good way to store wealth at times when max shard stack is the new max cash and not everyone likes to keep making max mules every time they reach it again. Hats get bought out almost accidentally this way.

On topic, i hope the hat doesnt look like headband on female character like partyhats does right now.
