Attempt 2 at a comparison below. Everything is on Ultra. I can't find the exact spot where Jagex took this screenshot in the Everlight area - Jagex look quite high up, on a circular platform with some kind of plinth next to them.

I also can't work out how they got the green reflection the way they did. I can't increase my settings any higher and I can't find the exact spot

If anyone knows the exact spot please let me know and I'll take another one, but if you zoom in on the Jagex model hand you can see a building in the distance, and the character looks very high in the air. I think they set up a platform with something reflective on the other side to showcase the hat better

Edit: cropped picture

Standing next to a light source will give the reflection, it looks really good with the metal textures.

At the Draynor sign

Thanks - I do understand how reflections work, I was just explaining that the reason it doesn't look exactly the same is because I don't think we can replicate that picture as players. It appears to be a place Jagex made themselves for this purpose.

People were upset it wasn't exactly the same, or people thought it was fake, so just felt like I had to explain.

Due to the requirements for obtaining this item it's likely to be an incredibly common item. The equivalent of a "Collectors Edition" item mass produced and sold at Walmart. It looks beautiful though but it's a shame it likely won't become an interesting collectible item.

My prediction: For the first few days, they will be quite high value. This is because many people are going to want to purchase as many of them as they can, but very few people are going to want to immediately sell their fancy new hat. Low supply, high demand.

After a few days however, the novelty will wear off for many and the prices will go down to a reasonable level. By this point, people with alts will have already made multiple, and the hype over the new hats will have subsided.

After one or two years, we'll see the values start to go up. Hoarders will have purchased tons, and the now-unobtainable hat becomes a minor rare.
What I wanna know is, where's the caveman?

LOL...

You do realize that Phats, Santas, and Mask spawned all over the worlds on the ground on their respective holidays when they were released. My buddies and I had inventories full of Santas and Masks when they were dropped. These will go way up. It will just take years like the other discontinued items to get up to insane prices...

This looks like the real deal in honor of their 20 year anniversary. I would expect the same level of rareness on these overtime as any other discontinued.

Best,

Well said Lumbys Hero, it's nice to get some insight from someone back in the times. Yeah I'd imagine people didn't even think twice about tossing a phat/santa back on the floor or anything. Now it's actually worth some base cost (membership, 30m, time) and discontinued and it is anticipated to be rare so people are more likely to hold/keepsake them just because they only have 1 on each account and it wasn't infinitely/randomly dropped on the ground.
