Been a good 19 years on May 4th this year. Shame I never made it.
I'd love to say a lot more but I can't.
Been fun knowing you all.
You won't see me on RS Discord or Twitter or Reddit. Don't like them. So it's a good bye from me. I hope you remember I was the guy who had the most Forum posts of anyone. 152221 as of now. Might be a few more added lol.
917 pictures on Imgur too lol. I'll keep them as my history. Don't need them for anything else now.
bummer - agree with you and hope you only the best.
I've genuinely spent the past week feeling sad about this.
I love spending time on and browsing through these forums, I feel cosy here.
It's very simple and clear to find, read through, therefore reply to, with all the different sections of particular aspects of the game.
Which includes Off Topic and Forum Games. I mean those two (and General) are the ones I'm going to miss the most!
Discord just seems a big chatroom of short/fast chatter, rather than full/longer posts of conversation. It doesn't have every specific section/aspect that the forum has.
I don't see how conversations can be properly had or read through on Dc, because of the lack of individual threads that allow you to easily follow what has already been replied.
Reddit, a whole convo can be tracked on each thread made. However the entire sub isn't sectioned up
at all
, so it's a mish mash of anything and everything, on just the one main page to scroll through.

I honestly feel really sad over this, they even acknowledged the forums being a piece of history and still proceeds with sunsetting them. I will miss them

Yes, rest in piece! A lot of history here!
Will you, and other mods try to move onto Reddit or similar platforms to continue your general work?
I believe some of us will be moving to Discord (either the official RS3 or OSRS channel). I cannot comment on Reddit as this is not directly managed by Jagex. That said, I am currently doing a complete archive of the forums (including the localised forums), having saved, as of this writing, >4.1M posts and >53K threads. I will be publishing this on a dedicated website, preserving the forums, essentially, in perpetuity.
OMG, thanks, matey! I'm looking forward for this. Is there an URL yet?
It's been a long time since I've posted on these forums but I am saddened by this news either way. We'll be losing a piece of history and I will cherish the fond memories from over the years.
Like a shadow in the moonlight
Like the whispers of the sea
Like the echoes of a melody
Just beyond our reach
In the shadow of our sorrow
Past the whisper of goodbye
Love shines through eternity
A heartbeat from our eye
Goodbye everyone

This has been my experience with those sites as well. Chaotic and disorganized. All of the sites mentioned as alternatives seem to be designed primarily for "just now" communications rather than ongoing or in-depth discussions.
And I find it ironic to see a number of posts on Reddit complaining about the lack of Jmod participation there.
There should have been another way.
