My alt has 19,787 posts, so technically I'm at around 107K. Only posted on alt because of the bans. .

Even though the writing's been on the wall for a while now, it's still sad to see it go. I've always had a little hope that someone at Jagex would someday overhaul and try to reinvigorate the forums...

There was a time around 2009 to 2011 where I was probably on here (or the boards for Funorb and Stellar Dawn) more than in-game, and that was when I played the most. I miss those times. I'll miss the forums.

I can't even begin to fathom the countless hours I spent on these forums as a young player back in the day, and the days I spent recruiting for my clan over the years. While the forums are a shadow of their old self these days, I am truly saddened to see them go.

Thanks for the memories (and the headaches) RS forums! You will be missed. †

I was hoping the Jagex Team was eventually going to revamp the forums and breathe new life into them :( Guess not.

I will respectfully disagree with them that the RS Forums can be completely replaced with Reddit, Twitter, and Discord. Those are third party services that not everyone wants to use. It is also harder to hold long-form conversations on the aforementioned services. Most other MMOs recognize this and have kept their forums updated & maintained.

Nevertheless, thank you to all the Forum Mods and regular players who kept the forum going even when it was—for the most part—ignored by its creators. The RSOF will be missed and, ultimately, nothing can or will replace it.

(Side note: I hope they have some update planned for clans. Since we won't have our recruitment threads anymore, we'll need a new avenue where we can centralize our recruitment. And no, what we currently have on RS Discord won't cut it).

Totally agree with you!

I was also hopeful that Jagex would have revived the forums in some way, rather than let them gradually decay; i don't believe other sites can replicate the same feeling as the forums did...it's heartbreaking to see them veiled out of existence

Jagex has been aiming towards this point for years - the process of deliberate neglect (e.g. JMods being encouraged to use other sites instead of the RS main site, the deliberate choice not to update the forums with features now standard elsewhere, the choice by Jagex staff to abandon the dedicated clan leader and high level forums, and so on) made it all but inevitable.

So spare me the corporate speak about "allocating resources" that were, in fact, reassigned long ago, and tell the truth: the forums were not a profit centre, and therefore had to go, irrespective of the fact that they provided a service to the community (the clans community in particular).

Wow such a shame. So many years worth of posts will be lost forever. Would be interested to learn the final total number of posts that have ever been made on the RS forums. The forums have always been there since I started in 2005. It will be strange and sad when they’re gone!
