As of today, Jagex has announced the sunsetting of the RuneScape Forums.

Will you, and other mods try to move onto Reddit or similar platforms to continue your general work?

Apparently they did. Tufty made a teaser post in the general forum chat thread.

This is very saddening! I assume they are doing this because the cost of up keeping and maintaining the forums does not outweigh the benefit to having the forums accessible to all. However, that forces the user base to have to switch to a third party platform. I know engagement has been low here but I still felt that there was a need to have the forums active.

Such a sad day!

It's a sad day to see that the forums are to be shut down, I'm going to remember the good times and the friendships I have made from the forums.

To echo what you've said Mexk: thank you to everyone over the years for the making this place special. :)

Been a fun ride with y'all, would have prefered the forums remain readable though :| Life is like a camera: Just focus on what's important, capture the good times, develop from the negatives, and if things don't work out, take another shot !

I can't claim to have participated on forums much, and only rarely browsed them back in the day, but they certainly were a central gathering point for the RuneScape community back in the day.

I believe some of us will be moving to Discord (either the official RS3 or OSRS channel). I cannot comment on Reddit as this is not directly managed by Jagex. That said, I am currently doing a complete archive of the forums (including the localised forums), having saved, as of this writing, >4.1M posts and >53K threads. I will be publishing this on a dedicated website, preserving the forums, essentially, in perpetuity.

Its sad Jagex did not pay any atention to the wrong things that did happen here on the forums.

Honestly no longer sad the forums go down.
Lets face it most of it just pretty toxic and some f-mods do ignore the things or break rules them self.
