I still remember back when I was in 6th grade, my Social Studies teacher mentioned "ores" and I knew exactly what it was because of RuneScape.

Kind of hard to believe that I still remember that considering I now teach 6th grade - that was almost two decades ago.

A few other terms I learned from RuneScape: visage, maw, effigy. I'm sure there are plenty of others that I can't think of off the top of my head.

Technologies are the most important aspects of any software, video games included.

When legacy technology stacks are not getting adequately supported by modern external technology providers, video game developers better be prepared to move forward with other plans.

For instance, Jave based technologies are being put in the back burner, although not fully abandoned by big tech companies, Jagex better have plans to make sure players of their Java based games can still interact with the other players and pick up items in the game.

How excited the playerbase is for an update and how big is it to them is observed from their actual in game engagements, not how hugggeeee some big influencers say it is or how many livestreams the developers make or how many blogs they write every other day.

I love the fact that although the game has evolved so much over time, it still remains nostalgic. The music in this game is amazing. There aren't many games where I can say that I sometimes have to stop what I'm doing in game just to listen. When my mother was ill, Runescape was an escape, and now every time I step foot in Prifddinas, it evokes both happy and sad memories. For a game to have such an impact on somebody shows just how much love has gone into the game, despite its ups and downs.

Depends on the point of view... :)
Pretty much whole of Europe uses that floor numbering system.

Cool map I found on Wikipedia:

Red = North American (ground floor = 1), blue = Eurpean (ground floor = 0), purple = both (wut?), grey = no data.

I learned nostalgia can still be a thing to old school gamers, but it is remastered nostalgia that keeps an old game like RS3 going and going and going for first 22 years and the next 22 years.

We started with Lumbridge and Varrock in Runescape 22 years ago, we still have Lumbridge and Varrock in Runescape 2023, but we have modern look graphics. Look at the new water bodies, lighting and such. And you mentioned music, of course, the old Runescape music tracks like the iconic Scape theme music are remastered too.

Old games always have a big problem of keeping gamers of every generation happy, but we should have learned it is possible with game changing content like Necromancy, as it puts everybody at the same fresh start level with bland new game mechanics left and right.

Essentially this is a fresh start game with fresh start economy for everybody, only that we remastered old game content instead of reinventing the whole wheel.
