taking off on a slight tangent on this thread - I have gotten "Santa's Christmas Presents" on my members main a couple of times, can you get those on F2P as well? I'm guessing you won't be able to redeem them but I'm wondering if they drop at all.

I believe Jmods mentioned it on the livestream. Even the 2022 and 2023 "Purple Christmas Presents" share the same name, they contain very different items. Purple Christmas Presents of 2022 and prior years contain items from previous years, but the 2023 Purple Christmas Presents contain brand new items like all the Overhead Partyhat emotes. IIRC, Jmods said they don't want them to be too common.

They still drop for F2P but need membership to open.

Cool, so I can make the determination of whether or not to redeem a bond on my alt based upon how many presents I get (since I will get all types), basing my decision primarily on if I get any/enough gold/christmas presents, and not on the hope that I would get them if I were to redeem the bond first....

Counting chickens before they hatch (opened presents) is better than counting chickens before the eggs are laid (seeing how many of each color I have) :-)
Things may be looking down now, but I see a light at the end of the tunnel;
Do you think I should get off the tracks?

Yes, it is very good as a consumer I can hold onto paying until the last moment. In my case, I am not that motivated by how many good presents I have before I buy membership to open them. More on that is on the content I want to pay for.

There are a lot of very nice Christmas Events this year already, and I have no intention to grind long hours other than just AFK a little here and there, so paying more membership is not really good value for me. However, when the new year comes, we should have plenty of new exciting conten with the bland new Misthalin episodic storylines and other content that we can use a membership.

Oh look. Today's Advent gift is...a purple present.

If you try to claim it as a free player, you are told you have to be on a members' server.

Thanks for nothing, Jagex.

They did it again!

For a second time, today's Advent Calendar window cannot be opened by free players, because it is another purple present. This means not only do we not receive a gift again, we also do not receive the extra free TH key normally granted by opening the window on the given day!

At this rate, will free players even be able to open 15 of the windows?

This is the worst excuse for a Christmas event RuneScape has ever thrown together. I remember when holiday events used to be enjoyed by ALL players. This is just sad.

Yeah, it sucks.

I have noted though that the 'open 15 rewards on the day' counter does increase with these members-only rewards.
The gift doesn't need to be claimed to gain whatever reward it was they were going to give for opening 15 windows.

At least we have that...

Great that free players can also get Purple Christmas Present from Advent Calendar. It further answered OP's question definitively with a YES.

Which part of "today's Advent Calendar window cannot be opened by free players" did you not understand?

Ah, yes. That does appear to be the case. Thank you, Kings Abbot.

Still, we have to try (and fail) to open the window for it to count. Some free players might not even bother, if they know there is no gift for them today.

I just wonder if we will be hit by another "You have to be a member to claim this reward" message, even once we have attempted to open 15 windows on the appropriate day.

"can you obtain a purple, snta, or gold present in f2p?"
- OP

My posts are, as what posts to the RSOF should be, are for those who are interested in the discussion. Again, as I mentioned already, if my comments replying to OP and other users don't pertain to you or you are not interested, you don't have to interrupt with our constructive discussions for the benefits of who are interested so they can get the best experience out of the Christmas present all these wonderful RS3 Christmas Events.

That's ironic, coming from the King of Thread Derailment. Try taking your own advice.
Original message details are unavailable.
My comments are complete to those who are interested in the constructive discussions. If it is
"incomplete" to those who I am not replied to, sorry, they can't be "complete" to everyone who is not looking for constructive discussions. Thank you for you comment, bye, and I wish you a merry RS3 Christmas and a Happy New Year that all of us are interested RS3 players are having now.

I do not require your approval to post anywhere I choose to post.

In part, I replied to your reply to confirm your belief that Christmas presents never could be banked or sold, so this is not new. You were correct about that, so I agreed with you. I will agree with anyone when they are right.

The OP may correct me if I am mistaken, but when they spoke of F2P not being able to "obtain" purple and gold gifts, I took it to mean we cannot obtain the prizes contained within these presents. If a free player has 1 or more of these unusable presents taking up an inventory slot, that is one less space to work with. It also prevents Dungeoneering and taking part in certain minigames like FoG. Plus, it is annoying. Just because you choose to put up with the limitations does not mean everyone wants to. We never had to - until now.

Your only solution offered was to become a member. Not everyone wants to do that, and it does nothing to address F2P issues. This is why your reply was incomplete.

"can you obtain a purple, snta, or gold present in f2p?" - OP

Which part of the only sentence from OP did you not understand?

Clearly, Holly was specifically talking about the Advent Calendar windows offering purple presents, which F2P cannot even claim.

Therefore, the quote from the OP - and your entire response - is irrelevant.
