Not sure if this has been posted or not, was looking for the one that people attempted on me today, twice.

While in the abyss one of the lurers will ask if they can 'buy' your training spot (because there are only two good spots to train in the abyss in each world). They'll ask you to trade with them at edgeville or something. Now the next part of the scam I'm not quite sure, as I never let them get that far (more than likely they log out so you go back to your spot through the wilderness).

After about two minutes I decided to bank for more supplies, and I was cautious when heading back to the abyss, I noticed a guy with seismics and full pk gear on waiting near the mage, more than likely his lure friend to kill the target.

TLDR - If someone is asking to buy your training spot at the abyss, they're just trying to lure you so that their friend in max gear may pk your items.

One time SOANDSO (name redacted. actually more like I forget what his name was) traded me and gave me free stuff, and I accepted because he accepted and okay free stuff lol. (But mostly I accepted out of curiosity as to whether he'd accept)

Then I turned my private chat off from Friends when I thought he wasn't responding to my questions, and there were 2 people autotyping, "Don't trade SOANDSO, he's a scammer"

SOANDSO didn't say anything the entire time I was at the GE, either.

Is that a possible scam? This was completely in-game. I don't think Jagex can track hacked items, though in Neopets if you unwittingly trade for a hacked pet, your account can be frozen simply for being guilty by association and even if you're 4 pet transfers down the line, but in the case of this trade I only got about 30k worth of random stuff.

Here are things i've notice and found helpfull in runescape to prevent getting scammed/lured.

So one of most used scams (The grand seed pod)

Players are trading you a Cash stack and a Grand seed pod
So how this works is the ''Scammer'' wants you to drop your Cash ore items on the floor.
But they also hope that you gonna try to anti scam them so its easier to fool you!

Never drop items ore give items if a player wants to give you free money they will trade it to you instantly ore doing a drop party.

So when you try to ''Anti-scam'' they know what to do so you think you out smart the ''Scammer'' but actually the scammers hoped you to try out smarting them.

Report this player for ''Scamming'' and add them to your ignore list.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

This one happends in the Chaos tunnel ore the abby's. ( lure )

Most likely when you're in the Chaos tunnels/Aby's you might see other players there. So how this one work is.

- A player comes up to you and ask you anything and try's to get you out of the Chaos tunnel ore aby's. once they have done that they will most likely say to you Never mind and runs of.

() So you got lured out of the chaos tunnels / aby's and wants to go back be awere! that the player who got you away from your spot is waiting for you in the wildy ore a friend of them.

How to prevent you getting killed now.

- First ignore the player who came up to you.
- Toggle your online status to friends ore offline
- hop worlds and bank all your gear, go to wildy check if its safe. ( always bring a Teleport.

I fell for a scam that wasn't based on common sense, because it involved a "bug" that isn't actually a "bug," after I got responses to my Item Lost To Technical Issue claim :| :| :| :|

I was in the wilderness maging the Chaos Elemental with 3 items, an armadyl battlestaff, Ahrim's robe top, and Ahrim's robe bottom. I was very careful not to accidentally click on the other player who was showing me the Chaos Elemental (and whom I suspect is my scammer). Dragonbreath was also one of my abilities, but if you're attacking the Chaos Elemental, it won't target other players, since the Chaos Elemental is an NPC.

However, it *does* still attack familiars, and when it does, that skulls you.

You can presume what happened next -_________________-

I actually started crying irl because I was so devastated, and because there was nothing I could have done about it. I couldn't even use common sense, because common sense was wrong.

VERY IMPORTANT TO NOTE THIS SCAMMING METHOD ANYONE COULD FALL FOR IT

Recently a clan member asked me if I had the 30m I owed her. I thought she was joking but after a discussion in clan chat we figured out she got scammed. The scammer imitated my username by taking advantage of the similarity between lowercase L and uppercase I. My name appears as Helgraind, theirs; HeIgraind. They approached through private chat and my clannie said I was online in CC when this happened so she never thought twice about it. We figured it out when another clannie who has me on their friends list also got messaged, but figured out it wasn't me. It's very methodical as they target people who they think might trust the player they're immitating such as clan member to get larger sums of money! Anyone can see I'm in a clan and go to the homepage to find out who other members are. I think this should be added to the guide as another clannie has heard of this happening before this incident.
