Some girls find large boys attractive, so we shouldn't feel sorry for him. Look at the sort of cutie a big lad like him can score.

In other non-news that no one cares about...

Very interesting game going on as a highly aggressive Soviet Union. I declared war on Japan in 1937 after they invaded China. ( You need the right conditions for war declaration, which can make it hard to be a naughty boy unless you plan waaaaay ahead ). Japan joined the Axis so that put me at war with Germany. Only there is Poland in the way. So I invade Poland in 1938. A long brutal slog developed since we are talking 1938 technology here, basic infantry, useless tanks, hardly any air-force, primitive supply systems, poor military doctrines. Basically its still world war 1 warfare.

So we end up with Germany, Japan and Poland on the same side, fighting the Soviet Union in 1938. Then the UK declared war on Germany. So we now we have the UK and France at war with Poland and the rest of the Axis powers in 1938. Interesting.

The UK is also at war with Afghanistan. Yeah, I had a couple of spare mountain corps so I decided to invade Afghanistan. Who then promptly joined the Axis. Putting them at war with Britain, who is allied with France...and Iraq...and Nepal...and... It gets complicated.... Anyway a lot of convoys were getting sunk by submarines.

I would have to say the team that designed this game put an incredible amount of effort into it. If you do the same historical things which actually happened, you get the same sort of historical results. Go off the rails and do stuff like I just did and you get some very interesting unhistorical scenarios, but generally plausible ones. At the same time the game is also modelling weather conditions, supply logistics, attrition, the international economy, international politics, internal politics, espionage, technological developments, as well as doing all the BANG! and BOOM! stuff.
I failed to keep my New Year's resolution before I even made it.
