Edit 2: Please read Mod Maz's comments on page 7 before commenting, thanks.

There is a rumor going around , maybe Jagex announced something, but I can not find it, that Jagex is working on a way to let our clanmmembers who are playing in 07 join the ' real' clanchat.
If this is true, I would be extremely happy, because I think this is the only real problem with having 2 (or more) types of Runescape, it splits the community.

Giving the OS players access to the ' EOC cc' should really only have upsides and be reasonably easy to do, since we have already had people from different beta's and such join the chat.

So, my question is: is this rumor true, and if it is not.. how can we make it become true..?

Edit: thanks for the reactions, Mod Maz and fellow clanleaders,

My conclusion is this: Some people want one community, some want it to be as separate as possible and all kinds in between.

The most important thing , when making an update to this seems then to be to make it optional. Clans and members can decided themselves whether they want to have OSRS and RS3 players in the same cc and if they want to be there.

I don't know if most people in OSRS want fully fledged clans, with citadels, competition based on XP gain and exclusivity, as in only being in one clan, that might be too modern and restrictive. If they do not, the simple solution is to just ad an extra chatOPTION for them to be in the RS3 CC's.
If they do, then I suggest making being in a clan in both gametypes at the same time possible and making it possible to participate in both chats, regardless of what type of RS you are currently playing. Again,.. optional ..
This would then also ad an extra chatoption to RS3.

theirs a possibility it may happen however they may just create the 07 clan system not connected with rs3 clans, and that's what I hope they do at this point

I hope they don't connect OSRS to RS3 in any way. They're completely different game versions, unlike just being a server thing.

We're already held back regarding FC updates and stuck with an outdated FC system in RS3 because of the technical difficulties and implications it has with OSRS being connected, and I would not like to see CC's being held back and limited in the same ways in the future.

Regardless though, FC's are understandable because it's a Friends List thing and works through the Friends List server. OSRS clans and RS3 clans are completely different communities, and also if the CC systems were connected, being in an RS3 clan would mean you are unable to join an OSRS clan.

Considering the general hostility between the OSRS community and the RS3 community, it's probably best to keep them apart and in their own, not connected, clan chats. There's too many ways for flame wars to start in a clan chat than I could count... @Lisaa_RS - Followed by @Runescape

I am currently gathering feedback from the OSRS community about what they would like to see in a clan system, yes.

Will we connect it to RS3? That remains to be seen. There is certainly a fair chunk of people who would like to see their divided communities once again able to interact, but there is also another chunk of people who want to keep it totally separate.

No decision has been made at this point.

Since my clan is on both games, it would be nice if we could join the CC from OS. As long as it does allow multiclanning though. Being forced to be in only 1 clan on RS3 is already a terrible thing, but being forced to be in 1 clan on both games is even worse.

The communities are already divided in the sense that they are playing two completely different game versions, rather than communication. I don't think we can just duct-tape them together through clans by combining the systems, apart from the confusion regarding daily game discussion and issues (potential rivalry/division) it could lead to between OSRS and RS3 members.

The best solution would be to make the CC systems separate, and if necessary provide a cross-game chatting option for those who'd like to interact with their clan on a different game version but I'm not sure how anyway.
