Have any examples of a mahjarrat being controlled? Zemouregal clearly hates Moia. I'm doubtful she is controlling him. She humiliated him and likely exiled him from the central Zamorakian authority. He was willing to serve Bilrach as Bilrach was always Zamorak's second-in-command. Moia undermined Bilrach, also humiliated him, and shifted the loyalty to her then (probably) killed him - thus making her the head of the Zamorakians. Zemouregal couldn't stand her to begin with. It's more likely we may even reluctantly team up with Zemouregal against Moia at some point.

Mah wasn't controlled. She was just weird in her last incarnation as she preferred a more humanoid form vs the Lovecraftian beasts her sisters took. Mah adored mortals and had an affinity for butterflies of all things. When the elder gods were reborn someone sabotaged her egg which caused her stillbirth...leading theory being that is was Xau-tak. He didn't control her, though. He only crippled her to the point of being mindless.

This bit isn't confirmed, but my personal theory about Tak and Mah is that Mah isd the only elder god who would have cared enough about mortals to protect them. We did confirm that the other elder gods don't give a crap about mortals or our world ergo why they were willing to destroy our planet for their rebirth. If Xau-Tak stepped up, and it's very likely he is a threat to the elder gods, they may have taken their rebirth elsewhere and allowed him to destroy our planet OR Xau-Tak wants us alive longer than the elder gods would so that he can do whatever his agenda is with us (which is probably worse than death). Mah most likely wouldn't have any of that...so he had to get her out of the picture which is why he stabbed his shard into her egg.

Being said - I agree the dragonkin are useful against Tak and the first necromancer. Wanting freedom from the pain of the stone they researched just about everything there is lol.

Tomato, I'm pretty certain taking Trindine around places like the TzHaar City takes place during "Azzanadra's Quest." - and I didn't even remember that the TzHaar could see souls. That's another really great point you raised though.

---

Why are dealing with Dragonkin stuff again?

Vin, I definitely understand your trepidation about seeing the Kin pop up again so soon after....literally taking on a horde of them under the control of the Elder Gods to protect other powerful dieties inside a cathedral in a near-world-ending clash.

I think poking around in seemingly abandoned ruins is different from the Elder God Wars Dungeon experience, and it's important to understand that without Jas binding them to herself (something she cannot do anymore), the Dragonkin hold much more of a resemblance to humans than super powerful dieties. We recently had a story in Twilight of the Gods that dealt with Naressa, a Dragonkin that wasn't aggressive. Vicendithas, the clone of Kerapac, also is a friendly Kin, and then there are the Aughra Dragonkin that assume the forms of demons in Daemonheim.

We're leading toward a story, after all, where the big bad is a Mahjarrat resurrecting a dragon (which is an even lesser being). ;)

All that to say, of course, that the stakes for this story probably aren't as cataclysmic as the Elder God Wars were.

^ yup, the dragonkin get their own story now and can actually have a society where they are free from Jas.

The Dragonkin already have a society and we learned a lot of their cultures from Desperate Measures, A Hero's Welcome, Ritual of the Mahjarrat, ED2 and a lot more. More recently, we also know all kinds of Dragonkin experiments from Effigy Incubator etc.

We have all kinds of 4th, 5th, 6th Ages and Age of Chaos lore of the 'Kin after they were free from the Stone of Jas, what still missing are First Age and perhaps pre-First Age Dragonkin lore. The good thing is the conclusion of Dead and Buried seems to guide us to eventually Meeting 1st Age Dragonkin History through Necromancy.

The Necromancy storyline immediately follows Dead and Buried, as we were told weeks ago.

Today, we know a bit more details on the "aftermath" of Dead and Buried, not counting Necromancy.

https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/153qzfy/development_updates_from_mod_stu_on_the_sequel_to/

Mod Stu spilled the beans on a bit of information on Season 2 of Fort Forinthry.

Mod Zura is already 6 months into the development of the sequel of Dead and Buried.

FYI, Mod Zura's last project was Murder at the Border. So we may have an idea where the sequel of Dead and Buried will pick up from. We are going to get King Roald III, Queen Ellamaria, Bianca and the other dukes/duchess/dux and their minions around the well at the center of the Fort again perhaps. ;)

So, I watched that Mod Jack development livestream, and there's a fair bit to unpack there - before we get to the more salient points though, I'll run through some interesting observations he made.

1. Jagex had always intended the Raptor's identity reveal to be vise versa. They wanted players to see Queen Ellamaria assume the mantle of the Raptor, not the Raptor revealed to be her majesty. Jack does accept that the fault lies with the company that players didn't exactly view it that way when it was executed, because the Raptor is on the splash art and "he" is the first character that one talks to in order to start Dead and Buried.

2. The Fort Forinthry "season", the Necromancy "season" (which is somewhat of an exceptional circumstance in regard to storytelling, as it should provide meat to the new skill), and the first half of the "2024" "season" (Taking in Mod Stu's Twitter post, this is the Ungael/Vorkath arc running to the Fort Forinthry series' Finale.) comprise something called the Misthalin "storyline" - adding further purpose as to why Queen Ellamaria was given a bit of ascension and purpose throughout the Fort Forinthry arc. It's important to know, that we are in the middle of an active storyline here - and that Ellamaria probably isn't yet fully fleshed out as Jagex has intended for her.

Here's my thoughts.

Earlier in this thread, Abby asked "Why didn't monsters kill Ellamaria's parents instead of a fire?"

We were also introduced to Ungael and given hints about Vorkath, a dragon. Dragons breathe fire. Ellamaria lost her parents and her home...to a fire.... Perhaps monsters -are- involved after all....

I also feel like its possible Dilbert is ...right... about a potential Misthalinian shake up. I'll take a different route from him though. Instead of King Roald meeting an untimely end, it's Ellamaria who dies, taking on a combat challenge even she wasn't able to prevail over. The fallout in Varrock would still be interesting.

I have had reason in the past to not fully believe everything said by Mod Jack, lol. Assuming the mantle is a bit different than being revealed to be the individual. The real raptor dying and her taking it up would have made more sense.

I also don't understand why her parents just...walked into a burning house.

You need to sharpen up on your reading comprehension skills.

It says six weeks , not six months.

Stop with the over-representation already.
