The following thread contains information gathered during the Dead and Buried quest. I would highly recommend completing that quest before moving any further. As the quest is quite new, earlier posts will likely have spoilers.

So, not only is this going to be the second major OSRS baddie (the undead dragon, Vorkath) to cross over to the new school version of the game - but Jagex has even respected the habitat in which it exists. Ungael is the same isle in the Lunar Sea that Vorkath is located on in OSRS, and that means that the next quest that follows this Fort Forinthry saga (be it another quest in the series or separate), will likely incorporate some aspects of OSRS' Dragon Slayer II quest. While Zemouregal seems to be leading the charge this time, it's possible we see more of Zorgoth, a Dactyl Dragonkin that only makes a cameo in a dream in RS3.

I know that the retcon Raptor is ...controversial... but I really like the idea that Queen Ellamaria, who shows a high aptitude for Slayer in Murder on the Border, is secretly going on very dangerous hunts in disguise in a small compromise with Roald in order to keep adventuring. Between that and her loving Roald in a genuine manner despite not wanting the crown, I really cherish this relationship that they have established here.

Speaking of Roald, I know Dilbert probably thinks his part in Ellamaria's nightmare foretells a hastening demise, but I think he, her friend Bianca, and her persona, are the only things Ellamaria truly loved past her dead parents, and in Nightmare-land, the only thing of real consequence is the relationship between those apparitions and her majesty herself.

I love that Charos winks at the player as Reldo, and that Ellamaria apologizes for being mean during Garden of Tranquility.

I could see this quest being penultimate in the Fort Forinthry line - truly because I think Bill gets his beer garden, and we definitely are getting pressed for space.

I thought the twist was pretty lame and unearned retconning of a character.
I'm not one of these people who thought the raptor had to be a certain kind of person but still.

and their backstory is quite...unoriginal. It's like just throwing tropes at the wall and seeing what sticks anymore.

As far as character reveals go, Jagex has been doing poorly lately retconning so many NPCs are mahjarrat.
like can we just have some genuine normal characters in this game, or are we getting to the point where we've told every story that can be told with this format.

Bonus: Whoever animated the new walking animation for the raptor... lol...just lol.
It looks unbelievably goofy.

Dead and Buried is the last quest related to Necromancy. We have been told months ago. That said, whatever we see in the Fort in Dead and Buried and prior to it will not be a part of the upcoming Necromancy storyline.

So long Zemouregal to the Fort Forinthry continuing saga. It comes with no surprises as he told us himself in Unwelcome Guest he is just a distraction, and he is exactly just that with no significance in Dead and Buried. Zemouregal left with no boss, no legacy, just no nothing.

Of course, Zemouregal and whatever 5th Age or prior Gielinor lore will always be in RS3. They also include a lot of shared content with OSRS similar to Zuk and may be Vorkath, as well as soon-to-be-releaased Runescape franchise games, but there is really no "aftermath" left to Fort Forinthry with Zemouregal slipped into oblivion from Fort Forinthry.

Next up in Fort Forinthry... the real story and not just distraction or illusion? Of course there can be a lot of human sized conflicts as Mod Jack told us of the aftermath of the demise of Zamorak. There probably are going to be political and diplomatic adventures the Game of Thrones style upcoming in Fort Forinthry, instead of the save the world EGW or Necromancy style that will come all over the pending to be refreshed Overworld Gielinor.

With the revelation in Ellamarie's dream as well as the Queen's desire to be adventuring instead of managing the Kingdom, we better believe rulership of Misthalin will be up for grabs. Fear not though, Basilissa Adrasteia will issue her decree with Saradomin's leftover wisdom. The Duke of Fort Forinthry will continue to ascend, and Forth Forinthry will continue to grow its territory both horizontally and vertically, without any concerns of powercreep.

Dilbert, the quest, literally ended in a cliffhanger in which Zemouregal beat us to the crypt and just straight up -is- going to be the one responsible for resurrecting Vorkath when he arrives on Ungael. This story isn't even remotely "over" - it's a rising threat, and one probably much larger than Fort Forinthry in terms of importance.

When Zemouregal replied that his operations around Fort Forinthry were a distraction, he was trying to pin prying eyes away from the Dragonkin Crypt, and was genuinely surprised when the regent of Fort Forinthry and the Raptor showed up in the crypt anyway. He was hoping the denizens of Fort Forinthry would only assume defensive operations and not fully investigate the surrounding area.

Now that we know he's really going to somewhere else in Gielinor to resurrect a big dragon, that comment has come full circle. His involvement around the Fort was a distraction.

He has what he wants now, and the destruction he could cause with it is potentially way more of a problem than some of the Fort's outer walls.

He's still a very big part of future content, and is anything but obscure.

All you wrote are simply no surprises, as they won't happen in Fort Forinthry and will not be part of the continuing saga of Fort Forinthry.

As I mentioned, there will be all kind of Necromancy activities outside Fort Forinthry, but it is the save the world part of the upcoming Necromancy content. We are going to have all kinds of dead creatures revived through Necromancy, probably because of the rise of the First Necromancer. Of course this starts at City of Um, as we are told, but soon it will escalate all over the Overworld Gielinor.

Ellamaria was experiencing a personal nightmare.

In that nightmare, she experiences the tragic death of her parents and loss of her home on loop, she gets chastised by her friend Bianca, whom she had executed in a previous quest, her alter-ego mocks her for being a weakling in spite of herself, and her beloved husband talks about the inevitability of death - the concept. There is nothing to suggest that Roald is already on his deathbed. Roald is a human, humans die. That's for certain, and that is all.

In a nightmare, the only things that exist are things that frighten the dreamer. Ellamaria loves Roald, and losing him is among one of her greatest fears, that's why we see the apparition talk in the way that they do. Roald is trying to scare her.

It's important that after player and Ellamaria solve the sliding puzzle and are ready to depart the crypt, Ellamaria insists on keeping her claim to the Raptor's identity secret in respect of her agreement with her husband - an effort to make things go back to the way they were before the quest began, not a step forward. The strongest challenge we get the Raptor's identity is that Ellamaria grants the player a "Maybe" when they suggest she renegotiates the deals terms so that she wouldn't have to disguise herself.

For now, everything stays the same, and Fort Forinthry begins "offensive operations" against a new threat brought on by the old one, by Zemouregal. At the very least, the player, Ellamaria, and Siv (because she knows the location of the island as a Fremmenik) will be involved.

When you mentioned "the old one" and whatever "Fremmenik Island", you already told us they aren't the storyline of Fort Forinyhry.

The "new threat" is the First Necromancer. Of course he is a bigger than life threat. He wants to get rid of Death and stop the birth and death cycle in all of Gielinor.

Of course the Underworld Guardian will be involved. It is a no brainer.

The Fort Forinthry quest series doesn't have to be constrained to just the area around the Fort, and in fact, it hasn't been.

> The player starts the quest line in Varrock, as well as meets Aster there.
> The player meets Siv in Barbarian Village.
> The player meets Flint in Draynor Village.

There's also still interesting areas left to discuss around the fort, as we didn't even use the cave entrance that was revealed with the Woodcutter's Grove update.

The Fort hasn't seen its utility concluded, and its major villain is still Zemouregal, for now.

If you read all my posts you should know Fort Forinthry is expanding. Eventually we will be talking about expanding Forinthry vertically and horizontally, through political, diplomatic among other means. With the upcoming Fort Forinthry new content, we probably are talking about Misthalin, the entire kingdom of Roald.
