Zanik... no...
This game suddenly just became
very
depressing. Everyone's dying. Even the Signature Heroes are slowly being killed off or corrupted.
On the subject of Signature Heroes, I found none of them particularly interesting. They were all stereotypes, and most of them one dimensional too. Sir Owen may have resorted to dark means to solve his problems, but he was still a total boyscout and a one dimensional character. Ozan was the stereotypical lovable rogue from a criminal background, oozing with 'charm' and 'wit'. Ariane was the nerdy mage girl who wants to learn more and more, and share that knowledge with others. Raptor is your typical big-beefy-warrior who goes around killing things for the challenge, likely meant to represent all the tryhards who only care about PVP and bosses. X*nia was the stereotypical old mentor figure, and Linza wasn't all that prominent.
When they were first announced, Jagex clearly intended to do more with them, but their one-quest-per-month policy placed a huge limit on that. And since they were introduced so late into Runescape's existence, it was hard for most players to view them as iconic characters, or get the feeling of growing and leveling up alongside them since they were already high level.
Beneath the gold, the Bitter Steel.
