<I have already begun my search****; came Animus' mental reply, toneless as the ancient's words always seemed to be*****;I see traces but they are superficial, little more than marks one's body leaves on one's mind. It shall take time for certainty but there are no obvious signs****;
As Rhen lifted the stone he would discover... absolutely nothing. The Soulstone had a decent weight to it but otherwise seemed to be utterly unremarkable, much like some ordinary gem which most certainly did not possess world-ending power or the essence of an ancient. Although the watcher might notice a bemused expression on Umbra's face if he opened his eyes.
"I would not advise seeking any sort of magical aid in the northern wastes of Elune," Umbra rumbled softly, glancing toward Matthew and Caelidorus. "Last I saw of it it was the realm ruled over by Vates and I do not expect him to have moved elsewhere. It would be a slim chance he'd allow you to leave."
"That does sound plausible," Forlirn murmured quietly. "It is no secret among mages some great, untappable power exudes from the north of Elune. It is widely rumoured all who sought it have never returned once exiting the continent. Also fish are plentiful in the waters around here although game is nonexistent. Frilarth and I certainly have no qualms diving into the icy waters to claim them."
Caelidorus blinked at the interruption before shaking his head slowly and laying down to regard Matt, lowering his voice in turn. "I would lie if I stated it has not been on my mind. Quite much, to be truthful. In short, yes, I would be interested. It is the... implications I have thought most on, beyond what the ritual itself would lead to. No matter the circumstances, I cannot abandon my clan. Were we to join in such a way, my duty would pass to you as well."
Despite his exhausted state, the dragon seemed quite sincere.
