at her surroundings, noting some familiar faces from her own crew amidst the rush of people passing by - as if the fight inside the cantina had never even happened. She jerks her chin in acknowledgement, focusing on sorting her hair out.

Hathka’s reprieve, brief as she thought it might be, seemed to be cut even shorter. More people were exiting the bar now – either needing a break from the chaos or simply fleeing with whatever was left of their dignity.

One – a human, pale and fragile-looking – lingered in Hathka’s space. This new arrival seemed to be, for better or worse, fixated on her. Luckily for the human, the Kanta was not in a fighting mood. She was off-ship to try to breathe some new air, and that air hadn’t been especially invigorating, to say the least.

Hathka turned toward the human, her stance resembling crossed arms as she leaned against the wall.
“Did you need something from me or were you just sizing me up?”
Hathka replied, a bit sharply. Being around all kinds of races these past few years definitely loosened up her tongue, but she was still a bit snappy and overly direct.

Just then the Kanta’s ear quirked toward the doorway proper. There, the captain stepped through the doorway, tying her hair up. That sort of frustration was exactly why Hathka opted to keep as much of her hair closely cropped as possible. Only a minute nod of recognition was all the captain offered. Hathka tilted her head quickly toward the human staring at her as she met Jaeden’s eye. The motion wouldn’t have gone unnoticed, but it might’ve been unclear what the underlying question was for someone outside the crew.

Lorne smirked as the fighting died down and she saw what appeared to be the captain making for the exit. No rowdy drunks could keep down the captain! It was reassuring to see that the Seyren’s faith in her new leader was not ill-founded. She briskly folded her umbrella back into its housing before skipping through the scattered bodies and out of the building.

Outdoors, she recognized the signatures of a few other crew members before all her attention was immediately on Jaeden. Albeit fine overall, the woman looked a lot worse for wear at this distance.

“Oh, captain!” Lorne squealed, hastily clattering down the bucket of kidneys she’d pilfered.

“Blood collecting here, here, here, here-” she rattled off telepathically to the close proximity, while individually prodding each bruise identified. It was an old habit to broadcast such diagnostics while working, and her single-mindedness had instantly been captured by the ‘job’ in front of her. As usual, she was very forward and annoyingly handsy.

“What have they done to your pretty face?!” she projected, while hastily dabbing blood away with a series of cotton balls she’d produced from somewhere in her modest outfit.

Well, she was now engaged with a member of the Autumn Star’s crew, and whether it was the right moment or not there didn’t seem like there would be another one. If she said no and left, there wouldn’t be any further chance that she would likely have. All she could hope here was that she was talking to someone who wouldn’t just dismiss her out of hand…which wouldn’t be unreasonable, given what planet they were currently on. The situation would definitely be suspicious to anyone even a little paranoid.

Matters were just made worse when the person she wanted to talk to, Captain Jaeden, walked out of the bar. It made the whole thing of getting noticed here awkward, since now she wasn’t even sure who she should really address with the question. That wasn’t even considering how to approach actually asking it.

However, when the next one showed up, it became clear that this wasn’t going to get better at all. She was going to have to have this conversation in front of multiple of the crew, and therefore it may as well be as direct and to the point as possible. She did, however, take a few steps towards the Kanta she had initially singled out, but in as non threateningly a manner as possible. She wanted to project that she had no hostile intent so she could at least have the chance to speak.

I did, but now that the captain is here I may as well say it to all of you.
” she said, looking over at Jaeden so that there was no mistake who she was referring to. “
I’m here to ask if I can join your crew.

When Cnossos finished making holes in the walls with people, and Ghivar regained his maturity and fended off nearby threats, well, everyone else seemed to have left.

The captain offered her cheers, Ghivar watching the thrown mug fly off.

Cnossos nodded while cap’n took her leave, he following her.

Ghivar scanned the floors, the djiro popping its head over the counter then ducking to avoid the big cat’s gaze. Ghivar yawned, sniffed a pool of blood, then waddled out.

“What a nice, sunny day!” Cnossos commented while the captain fixed her hair.

Outside, Ghivar noticed Auria requesting admission onto the crew, the slightly upset Hathka, the squealy Lorne, and a—Cnossos and Ghivar looked at Lorne’s bucket, both brutes catching the scent of blood.

Ghivar, quick to react, scurried over and sniffed the bucket like a cat to pet food...

Jaeden took the scrunchie out from between her lips, reaching back up to start tying her hair back when all of a sudden, a wild Lorne appeared in her face. Her expression was on the dumbstruck and confused side as Lorne chattered away at her, pointing out all the bruises on display. Her eyes flicked in the direction of the others, as if asking for an answer to a question that went unspoken, before looking back at Lorne.

Ah, and there comes the cotton balls, patting at her face to deal with the blood that dribbled from her nose and lip. She carefully tied her hair back as Lorne cleaned up her face, accepting her fate to be taken care of for the time being. Lowering her hands, she snorted at Cnossos' comment, a bubble of blood appearing from her nostril and popping.

Her attention turned to the woman speaking in her general direction. Her icy blue eyes narrowed in what she assumed was a thoughtful expression - though in her case, it more looked like she was contemplating how to rip the woman limb from limb.

"Skills?"
She asked bluntly, her voice monotone.

If Jaeden’s one-word response hadn’t indicated that she was willing to listen, the look that she had given Auria would have made her think that she was about to get destroyed. Since that didn’t seem to be the case, though, it looked like she could at least answer the question and see what was to be said.

Cyber warfare, software, programming; I have extensive experience in anything of that nature. I can also provide more direct combat support via small-craft piloting should it be required. I can provide my own vessel for this.
” she told Jaeden, her tone of voice perfectly matter-of-fact as she laid out the list.

Once she’d finished, she paused for a second before adding, in a slightly less sure voice, “
As it is something I don’t want to spring on you later, I will also be upfront in the fact that I have an AI partner.

As if on cue, Rhamnusia’s hologram flickered into existence above her right shoulder, and, with a bow, the AI spoke. Her voice came from the space around Auria, but if someone was to isolate the signal it would appear to be emanating from her wrist computer.

Rhamnusia. Pleased to meet you, I hope.

Just as Lorne finished assaulting the captain with cotton balls, she looked up in time to see the hologram appear over the hopeful’s shoulder - not that her naked vision was capable of seeing it. What appeared to her instead was what looked like a woman, but with only a fragment of an ordinary head’s heat signature. The remaining space was occupied by the far fainter traces of heat following the telltale paths of wiring and circuitry.

There were few more disturbing sights Lorne had ever seen in her humble life. She shuddered, trying to maintain her composure as she withdrew conspicuously behind the captain and slowly backed a few paces away. Her hand reached instinctively to her multi-tool, which she ran her thumb across nervously and out of habit.

After exiting the cantina Rylan found a spot to linger not far away, already feeling much better now he was out of the crowded confines of the building. It helped that he could see a number of other members of the crew either exiting the cantina or already outside, gradually gathering together again now that the excitement had died down.

There was one person who didn't leave who wasn't part of the crew, though. She'd left right behind him, that human woman he'd made brief eye contact with, the one who'd been watching the fighting. Rylan's eyes narrowed slightly, the captain's arrival right on time for the new woman to sidestep Hathka's confrontation and directly appeal to join the crew. Another new person around the ship... well, it was captain's call.

He didn't focus entirely on the conversation as the captain asked for the new woman's skills, instead letting his eyes flicker about the much quieter streets now that most of the fighters had crawled away. People were people. Someone might show up with bigger weapons because of the fight, or someone might take a potshot at the crew - even Rylan knew that a lot of people disliked the crew he was part of, even if he didn't entirely get why.

However, his full attention shifted sharply when he heard the new woman mention 'AI partner'. His head turned as a figure flickered into existence above the woman's shoulder, his body tensing and his eyes going wide - old instincts kicking into overdrive even if the hologram's appearance was distinctly different from the one that haunted his nightmares. Blue electricity jolted between his splayed fingers as he jabbed his hand out towards the holographic figure and a bolt of electricity erupted outwards at it, all the while the boy's body readied to bolt.
