So 2 things from these patches...

-
w88: Shades of Mort'ton -> Elite Dungeons

Why was this done and what is the new 'official' world for SoM?

-
We've now made it made it more difficult to get pulled out of chat by combat NPCs when speaking to the Messenger at Graveyard of Shadows and Swordsman in Edgeville Dungeon during the Curse of Zaros miniquest.

FINALLY

-
w79: Soul Wars -> Community Divination Training

Again why was this done??
WoOoOoOo! I'm a ghost.

To be fair, they did ask for suggestions, and take on board feedback they received.

It's more perhaps that it was difficult for people to find out what was happening, and thus know to give feedback, and where.

Each time this gets done, some communities are left hanging, at least this time, it wasn't despite the feedback, it was due to a lack of it.
I'm sure if you explain your concerns, they will be considered, and likely acted upon.

May I ask were did they ask for feedback regarding world theme changes? Because I was not aware of this at all. I'm sure many people were not aware of it if this was the case.

Twitter.

(At least, that's where I've seen it)

The new section is something for the short term, the idea is to eventually push patch notes to their own news posts, but they're in a new section for now just to keep it away from RGU, as we unsticky patch note posts in RGU they get lost and eventually deleted when they hit page 50 of RGU, I'd rather not lose them at all.

Isn't this what we used to have? A individual thread posted each week in RGU with the post also added to an eternal patch notes thread.

That's just great <_<

A tiny bit of the community got to decide world theme changes.

Thanks though :)

No worries.

But I agree, Forum feedback/polls could have been used to build a consensus, rather than focusing on just one JMods Twitter followers.

Yeah, ALL community input that isn't trivial should go through the forums. Hence the O in RSOF.

Also somehow hadn't noticed one Soul Wars world (the more popular, I think?) is gone. Given the current state of PvP minigames and the awful spotlight system, that's probably permissible for now.
Bizarre Boron Fusswell, scryer extraordinaire. OSRS: POH ideas & RS3 minigames & achievement ideas !

Perhaps you're half right; perhaps we can't win. But we can fight.

I guess the only minigame that actually would require a second world (except for a f2p-p2p split) would be castle wars - and only when a minigame weekend is present - so for 3-6 days per year at most. Otherwise it's probably better when the playerbase is focused - and if players absolutely want to play on a distinct world they still can use their homeworld as an unofficial one. It's much better when more activities are featured instead to be honest. It's good we finally have a place to focus on GOP or Heist without having to know inofficial places (which new players certainly won't). Improvements: Tooltip / (F2P) QoL v2
Quick Fixes: Invention

Yes, there was a stickied thread in General that contained years' worth of patch notes. My favourite patch note ever was included.

Then some Jmod just unstickied it and let it fall off the forums. We tried to tell them to move it to another section but they didn't listen. All those patch notes were lost. So,

That's cool but it's too late to save my favourite patch note ever.

RIP Patch Notes 4 July 2016 - never forget!

w71: Lava Flow Mine & Penguin Hide & Seek -> Lava Flow Mine
Pointless rename, it's still a penguin world regardless of whether or not it's listed, we're not just going to all up and move to a different world, all this does is reduce visibility for 1 of the penguin worlds. W71 is forum focused, W60 is FC focused.

w88: Shades of Mort'ton -> Elite Dungeons
Why? Shades of Mort'ton actually requires a world and it's not likely they're just going to up and move because of a random name change for the world. Even more so as there's no longer an official world allocated to it. W88 likely remains shades of mort'ton as a result, poor name change.

w58: Blast Furnace -> Community Smithing Training
w83: Community Smithing Training -> Living Rock Caverns
w84: Living Rock Caverns -> Portable skilling

These feel like a pointless reshuffling really. Blast furnace requires community activity more so than the LRC does too. Not to mention these are going to be impacted by the M&S Rework planned for next month including one of the portable variants (forges) which will end up intrinsically linked to community smithing training/artisans workshop/the world the luminite injector achievement is attached to in the long run. M&S may even temporarily revive the blast furnace due to the ability to make adamant/runite bars from just the 1 base ore without luminite there. If luminite on the market ends up excessive and cheap it will likely die off again, but this still makes it a really silly time to go and remove the blast furnace world.

The portables world also makes little sense, yes currently 3 type of portables (including forges which will be forcibly moved to artisan's workshop when M&S goes live, possibly not still on W84) are focused at the combat academy on that world by the portables FC, but other types are focused on W99 or W100 for instance so having a single world for portables in general is straight up misleading to players looking for types mainly found on other worlds instead.
