I like the idea of warding but this whole thing is a no from me. Most of the stuff you can put under crafting and give it a runecrafting/magic level requirement to make. Then make actual spells in the game imbue it with magic also requiring Runecrafting. There is no need to push for a new skill when you can make all this content new content for existing skills.
I wanted a clever signature but Jagex had no time for my shenanigans, because it was just a bunch of hax.

Here's how the development for a new skill should be:

1) Poll if players are open to the addition of a new skill in the first place
2) Hold contest for players to suggest concepts for a new skill (if #1 passes)
3) Poll top rated concepts to see what players like best
4) Have a 1 month open comment period where players can suggest/discuss specifics, and Jagex can see what people want/don't want
5) Develop proof of concept, invite interested players to beta test
6) Based on #5, revise and finalize details of the skill, and poll it.
7) Implement it if it passes.

Here's what it feels like is happening:
1) Come up with a subpar idea that doesn't really fit the game
2) Develop the content
3) Poll it
4) Be sad when it inevitably fails
5) Tweak, poll again
6) Repeat steps 3-6 until it passes

Adding warding is going too far. Its a massive deviation from OLD SCHOOL runescape that we all are here for.

Release this and you might as well get to work on OSOSRS because this deviation is RS3 central.

"Wah wah wah it's like Invention." Dude.. I don't even know much about Invention. If you actually played that awful game long enough to know how Invention works, then you clearly have no taste in what true RuneScape looks like. Pre EoCers are a cancer on this game. For a true 04-07 Old Schooler, I see no issue with this skill.

I see no issues with this Warding skill. People are crying, and yet the integrity problems have been patched up. What exactly is wrong with this skill? I just see people crying for no reason.

It fits the 04-07 feel perfectly. It's like Smithing and Crafting, but for Magic instead of Melee or Ranged. So what's the problem?

If you're maxed, so what? I'm maxed. What's wrong with finally having a new skill to train? I just don't understand the mentality of this idiotic community.

Dissolving is bad because "muh invention?" Again, I don't understand. It's clearly explained how it is good for the economy. It's good for the game. Who cares if it might be somewhat like some skill us veterans are vaguely even aware of in some other game?

Andrew Gower himself approved of the ideas behind Warding. GROW UP.
Thank you for speaking my mind.

I really like the idea of having a crafting/smithing equivalent method for making magic armor. I liked the idea of the original split-bark armor as a defencive magic set, but it never really seemed to have any uses. So the buffs to it, and armors like it, is something I do look forward. Being able to craft these armors may make them more widely used during normal player progression.

Players being able to imbue items seems a bit weird to have in OSRS, and the idea of doing it through mini-games isn't all that interesting either. It would probably be better if item imbuing was done through questing, rather than through a skill.

Item Dissolving should definitely be in the game in some form or another. Having it done through warding is okay for me. I personally think it should be done through smithing and crafting as well, but that's just me being nit-picky about it.

I know battle wards were removed from the dev path, but the idea does seem interesting. I do think it shouldn't be a part of the warding skill, as it doesn't fit with the crafting aspect of warding. It would probably be better off as a separate skill similar to magic , or as a new spell book for the existing magic skill.

Look, players giving opinion here, thinking mod acorn listens when history has shown she doesn't even reply to anything.

Gonna come back to osrs from my break and buy a bond just to vote NO on this crap.

With the amount of mixed responses this bullshit skill is getting, it won't pass the 75% threshold needed to pass the vote.

Did you read that, pro-ward noobs? THIS ISN'T GONNA PASS.

GET USED TO IT.

Noobs? You're the noob for cheating the polls. That's just a fact.
Oh, I almost forgot.

I did a poll on Facebook and Summoning got triple the votes that Warding got.

Do NOT listen to this community. Their argument that Warding isn't Old School isn't valid. It's as "Old" School as a new skill could get.
