Have been playing on and off since early 2002. Lost interest a year or two after the "transition" occurred. Recklessly Introducing skills, quests, and... The economy went HAYWIRE.

Implementing a new skill to the game attracts a huge majority of the regularly active players to start attempting to become the best at 'the new thing'.

Many who were, skilling, in a mini game, in the middle of a quest...PvM.. etc. All of which have a .002% (random number) contribution to the economy. Whether it be high level boss drops, or to cause a decrease of specific items. Less people fishing sharks.. price goes up. Less people hoping for a rare boss drop, that item goes up.

There is absolutely no way to say what the economy will do. Im shocked that there are mods saying it won't influence a flux in economy. Every force has an equal and opposite reaction.

Why in the 'heck' would you start to implement such drastic updates on OSRS?? This is starting to turn into RS3 only difference being the lesser graphics and flow.

There is no comparison between this and what I played 12-13 years ago.

Wasn't the intention of OS to be OS? I really cannot understand the reasoning for the continued addition of content.

YOUR ADDING MAJOR CONTENT TO A GAME THAT WAS CREATED DUE TO THE FACT ITS PRECEDER HAD SUCH MAJOR UPDATES

I'm glad Jagex's developers are so willing to change and update. Cause if this passes they better be changing the title of this version. Making the same mistake all over again.

Old School Runescape?

Not anymore...

Friends,

I made a mistake by voting No. I did not fully read the design and mechanics of the skill which led me to believe this does not fit thematically into RS. I was wrong after doing a bit of research. I wish we could change our vote in game.

Seems like alot of dead content for all that dev work that has/will go into this skill. would rather see it go into our dead mini games,3 training style skills, ect.

-money sink they have duel tax, boss deaths, ect. if you want more add things like GE tax,a skill isnt needed. add even headstones back or even more boss death costs

-mid tier mage gear, add a new mid level boss, dont need a skill for what is being offerd

-mage will never be a meta due to the cost unless stupid op, also need mage weak bosses, jagex shoulda made hydra a hybrid boss not just tbowscape is one example

-skilling rings sounds like the beginning of the end

-correct me if im wrong but you want to remove imbues/scrolls from nmz, creating another 100% completely useless mini game and if we get refunded points we are forced to buy things that hold barely any value,i did nmz for imbues, not for you to take it away and waste my time and forced to buy junk (if stripping current imbues)

-would like to see things like group ironman, duo slayer rework(its basically just invite your friend to crash you right now) and more coop activity's
VOTING NO

When I posted this I hadn't opened the file or watched the presented video. It was irresponsible and now I do appreciate Warding as a skill that fits thematically and would provide positive effects into the economy and overall gameplay. If I could change my vote to Yes I would. I hope Warding passes even through my and others stubbornness.

Glad it did not pass. Now let it go jagex. Quality of life updates are needed. Like Making Brutal Black Dragons and Rune Dragons slayer only. Make a instance for campers to pay and if they die they lose items is the way to go. This was not a skill. it was skills we already have so just put some of it on them like crafting. Time to stop the BS before you lose player base like when ya'all put eoc out. smarten up jagex. I was #203 to ever max and quit back then when you added eoc and will do it again if the Legacy game gets ruined

just say no! the changes to NMZ for me is enough for me to say hell no!!! the wanna lock your ring imbunes behind a P2W skill!!!

I think this shows one of the main issues with this not passing was poor communication. They already gave up on removing the ring imbues from NMZ.

Jmods, if you want to get something big to pass, make sure it doesn't get voted down based on tiny details that piss people off. Talking about removing items from people's accounts that they had already earned (like the imbued rings or rune pouches), even if it is just a miscommunication and not actually intended, is an example of such a detail. Separating (or not separating) poll questions from each other so that too much content isn't locked behind a single question is another.

Greetings, old timer here from early '05.

It is sad to see that Warding fell short of passing the poll by almost 10%, but I'd like to share some feedback that you may want to take into consideration if you intend to review your design for another poll.

The one element that sticks out like a sore thumb to me is recycling. I see inspiration has been taken from RuneScape 3's Invention skill - which in itself is not a bad thing - but I find it is lacking in focus.

Assuming what is detailed in the public design document, titled "Warding - v3", remains true, recycling requires Warding for dissolving magic equipment, Crafting for unpicking leather armour and other miscellaneous items, and Smithing for re-forging metal. Doing so will yield an amount of vis, and/or different kinds of scrap - depending on which skill was used. The scrap can then be turned in with junk traders in exchange for nature idols that can then be dissolved for more vis.

My question is: why is Warding the only skill that benefits?

Why is it that recycling only results in token items to be traded in, that in turn only affect one of the three skills this feature is available for? This feels like an Invention feature, but lacking the link that connect the skills. Neither Crafting nor Smithing is required in Warding, so it makes little sense that these skills should be involved in a purely Warding-centric feature.

On a personal note, I find the idea of disassembling my equipment for a token item that merely exists to be traded in unappealing and unimaginative.

Continued...

Supposing that the items purely reward vis, as per the Warding Blog on the Old School RuneScape website, we then run into a logic problem. Vis is generated by casting elemental spells on a monolith or rune altar (according to the design document), which is then used to create magical equipment. Since Crafting and Smithing lack this element in their forging process, why are they generating vis?

If, as per the public design document, dragonhide and mithril, adamantite, runite, and dragon metals could be treated as special cases under the logic that they are “fantastical” or “magical resources”, I ask:

What implications does this have for the equipment in question and for Warding? Is this merely a convenience for Warding, or does it have deeper meaning for how we perceive these items from a practical and/or lore-perspective?

I implore that careful consideration is taken if we are to make an exception case for these items.

In summary, I feel like recycling as it has been proposed is an unnecessary element that fails to establish a connection between the skills in question and selfishly benefits Warding alone.

Again, it is a shame the poll failed, but I hope that Warding will return after the design has been tweaked some more. Best of luck! :)
