I'm quite disappointed it failed, I was looking forward to it. Unfortunately, part of the fail came from Jagex adding far too much crap in the development phase when they should have been concentrating on the basics. Things like imbues and such didn't need to be in it from the start. Jagex now needs to salvage the two important aspects from it.

First, they still need to address the magic combat imbalance. Anyone who thinks magic is just for alching, teleporting and similar uses needs to gitgud. Magic's always been piss poor for combat, going all the way back to 2001. That comes from the sheer expense of runes compared to the lack of expense for ranging and melee, as well as the poor choices of maging gear unless one just stands back and safe spots.

Second, the game still needs an item sink from all the crap that gets dumped into the game from skilling production.

Magic is fine.

You can make runes. You can mine the essence and make anything you need by simply playing the game. Learning to use the abyss makes it nice and convenient. And, if you learn to click on the Zammy Mage as soon as he is in your cursors range with enough agility you don't even have to worry about PKers.

Mage and range have always had to safespot, and that is in any game you play, unless they forget about being damage dealers and stick to strictly kite-ing things for damage dealers (which Im not sure is even do-able in RS).

Range and melee don't cost money? If you don't make your own arrows/bolts - lest I forget the latest craze, cannon balls - and/or potions/food/equipment, it is very expensive.

There is a dump for crafted items - its called the G.E. and high alching. Worse comes to worse, players can sell it to a NPC.

Gitgud? What even does that mean?

What Jagex needs is to stop listening to individuals that would tailor the game for themselves (either to enhance their personal game play or their personal real life) alone.

OR, make a New School RS for all those-type people to play.
Let's Take It Back Old School,

As someone that has been playing off and on since Feb 2002(Quit with wild/trade removal until 2012 until Eoc). I personally felt Dungeoneer was a right step in bridging the lack of players interacting together whether max account or brand new player. The game evolved and changed each match and was challenging and consuming enough that you felt compelled to play it, rather than "right click fletch X" skills where you can afk. That I think was the main issue along with the grossly overpowered rewards, because people didn't want to be active to skill up. We need more content/skills that revolve around the community working together no matter the levels despite what the "I want to be able to afk grind naysayers think".

~~Warding~~

I can speak for myself and say that warding fits within old school runescape. I don't however like how it is a pay to level skill though where the one with the most cash gets 99 quickest. People are pretty stupid in this game, they scream they are anti anything past 2007 but we already got things added that we were told weren't. Where was the outrage then? Dragon claws, GE, NMZ, grossly overpowered new weapons entering the game creeping power.

We need new skills to keep the game fresh.
-ps: It seems the ones most against new skills are people that hardly play the game to begin with and/or people with low skills.

Support.

Get rid of this garbage. They're ruining Old School by wanting Easyscape.

Warding was a good idea though.
Long live the Wilderness. Long live risk vs reward in PVM. Long live 2006.

I personally was looking forward to the new skill. Could have used a little tuning to make it better, and less easyscape like new rs when I came back after being gone for a few years. Won't play that anymore, but it's nice to have a 15 year cape I guess.

Sad to hear it didn't make the 75%.

Sad to see this didn't pass. I was going through reading up on all the updates for the past year and this one caught my attention the most. Always been a fan of new skills and new content really, when it came to Runescape. Hopefully this'll re-poll and pass.
