I understand the logic behind polls asking the population for feedback -- they're a democratic mechanism and an institutional veto point against an update that the majority of players wouldn't like. That said, as far as I'm aware, there's no precedent in any modern democracy for a 75% threshold. I believe that the United States and their 2/3rds "super-majority" to override an executive veto is the most restrictive. If OSRS implemented a similar standard, Warding would still fall short of passing (as 66.4% is less than 66.67%), but we wouldn't have a game that's stifled of progress because a sizable minority of players are averse to any change.
Rant aside, I hope that you all continue to develop the skill and attempt to find an intermediate solution that benefits the game while persuading some of those voters to defect from their previous position.
