Should change the name of the game first then. Its not OSRS with a new skill. Fairly I just want to play the game as it was in 2007-2008. I'm against most new content. But I know the game needs to attract new players to keep it alive. Its a difficult balance.

First of all, I would like to bring some clarity to the discussion. ( 15 year vet. )

I remember very well the vote to restore Oldskul Runescape. One of the conditions for this version of the game to have at least a minimal team to handle the game was that the voting reach a certain number of votes.

Unfortunately, this category was short of votes. However, with such a large number of votes, Jagex decided to appoint a small team to handle the game.

At the time, only some minor updates were being thought of that would have no effect on this old version of the game, as the goal was to bring back the nostalgic feel to the players

However, the endless interest in the game and the rising numbers of players forced Jagex to rethink the strategy in this place, appoint a dedicated Oldskul team, and in other words, start developing an alternate version of the Oldskul game, with brand new updates, and so on.

We have been with Oldskul RS for over five years now, and we can all agree that this version is in many ways becoming more competitive and superior to the main game.

However, personally, I'm starting to notice a very bad trend. Notice how Oldskul feels like it's no longer Oldskul but just a hidden RS3 game in the old shell. Animations, NPC models and the like, start to come out of context in a little bit.

I want to add that a new skill is really needed for this version of the game. However, after reading the official blog about the upcoming skill, I thought it would be far from bringing anything new and would be modeled outside the old RS tradition

The whole point of Oldskul (the essence of RS in general) why it has attracted so many players throughout this years is simplicity. We don't want any dismantle fancy stuff, we want to cut trees and catch fish for nothing more. I strongly ask Jagex not to turn this version into just another RS3 on old graphics.

Skill is needed - but more worked ideas are needed on the table. Or make Warding as simple as possible.

You will poll everything? But we all know that the polls are hidden just so they can be rigged. Theres no reason to vote anymore. You are doing everything to pass content that the players don't want just to suit ur agenda. Its all commerce at the end of the day. And seeing what Jagex invested in the creation they wont do with Warding not passing. But its okay it looks good but not really old school not sure yet I would accept Summoning as thats a 2008 skill.

I am a very recent returnee to the game after having played for many years a long long time ago. I have invested a fair amount of real life gps into the nostalgia I have enjoyed since my return, albeit for only a few weeks. I think my investment and intent to stay is apparent with my hard work towards leveling and that investment.

I think Jagex has RS3 to experiment with and attract new players. I would not vote against new items and ways to gain XP being incorporated into existing skills, but I didn't come back to Old School to watch it evolve into a New School. I watched RS2 do that, and for me and many others, it wasn't pretty. In fact, it was down right sad for all involved, including Jagex.

Jagex has made OSRS successful. The amount of players I see online, and ingame playing, is heart-warming, and brings back memories from when Runescape was new. I speak from the heart when I ask that you please don't muddy the crystal waters.

I didn't return to Runescape to watch Seer's Village and Edgeville become ghost towns again. I hope you are listening. If you are, thanks for your time.

Not sure about this skill so I won't be voting .

But to everyone voting no because it seems like invention , if you take rs3 out of the equation would you still vote no ? or just doing it because you hate rs3 ?

I would personally rather them come out with a new skill , it's better then making overpowered methods for current skills as long as warding itself isn't overpowered .

I don't hate RS3. Im sure the people playing it love it, and would expect it to evolve and constantly incorporate new ideas and content.

I realize I am just one player and therefore insignificant in and of myself. Jagex can take or leave me. And that's fine, as it keeps the door open for all players to take or leave them. I'm not being snotty here - just talking reality.

Alexa, do you find anything wrong with a company keeping their word to their players? To me, keeping your word makes for a strong business relationship, and keeps paying customers coming back for more.

I also know all the Jagex ideals, so, if my real life gps don't matter at all, and I and other players who came back to Old School for that Old School experience don't matter at all, then Jagex will do as they want.

Jagex took their word away a long time ago , no point in holding them to something that isn't there anymore . I play because I enjoy the game and almost every aspect . I respect them for trying to give people more things to do on it , I just wish they would pace it out more and focus on in game things that we currently have first like PvP or world lag rather then a new skill which is a huge project and takes the team away from working on current issues :{

Is it ever too late to start keeping one's word once in a while, especially, when it concerns a primary aspect of the reason Old School exists and basic purpose of players playing it?

If I had a reason to make a promise to Jagex, don't you think they would want to hold ME to it?

More players can respect honestly and honor than they ever will respect a developer getting something new to put on their CV. Not snotty - just more reality. But all is not lost if said concept artists and developers can figure a way to work at least some of it into existing Old School skills and content.

I don't think most Old School players are here to see new skills and content. I could easily be wrong. Jagex will be the one to decide.

Its been nice chatting, and I hope you have a good day. ;)
