Seriously, this price increase is yet another attack on the oldschool community.

Jagex as a company must hate us, we refuse to move to rs3, even with legacy so we get a small dev team, we still refuse to move to rs3 so they refuse to add F2p, we refuse microtransactions so they decide to get money out of us anyways, by increasing the membership price.

We all know Pay2WinScape players don't care about spending real money on the game, they would probably pay 50$ a month for membership if they could get something out of so why not just add some more squeel of fortune or w/e items?

Also, isn't it weird that 2 Jmods were just recently added to the oldschool team because the game was "growing so well" and then suddenly they do this? Gives you something to think about, really....
playing rs since 1976, 40 year vet cape soon

LMAO, why am I not surprised?

Original message details are unavailable.

How much will the new price be?

The new price will be announced in early 2015, before the price rise itself happens. While the exact amount isn't finalised yet, it will remain competitive when compared to other MMOs.

Hopefully competitive with those free MMO's... Wait, who am I kidding? $15/month incoming

Free MMOs use serious microtransaction to pay the bill. .
So does RS (on top of charging you monthly, as well), what's your point?

RS3s has mtx but its not even close to the crap ftp games have..they sell 3x xp scrollls and other op stuff.

Osrs has none of that however.

LOL ?

What do you think RS3 does?

They sold the best method of training agility
They sell 2x xp
They sell xp outright
They sell gold
They sell supplies
They sell gear
They sell rares with an always-increasing in value

I could go on and on, the only difference is that the cost of items you get from RS3 can vary seeing as it's random and has no set price... Which when you look at it in a certain way is actually worse than those FREE games because you could be spending upwards of thousands of pounds for just one item you could get from said free games for a dollar or two.

Uh guys we pay mor because we only pay one source. RS3 has 3 or 4 seperate sources. Besides separate but equal would bw the likely outcome. That means you pay the same for one game instead of three (classic, RS3, osrs). Good day to lose ppl since we have no bonds which ppl pay with and lose ppl who play both.

Even other companies that run multiple games offer a discount price to just play one of their games. A good example of this was SOE before they completely converted to a free to play model. Sorry but osrs can easily self sustain with the small team we have working on it easily via just the membership model. Rs2 did just fine up until they decided to add cash shops into the game. They increased revenue but lost members as a result. We should never have to pay for development of a game we do not play. Makes no sense.

Your missing the point. Jagex isn't just supporting osrs or even osrs and RS3.

True but that is no offense their problem. Our problem is paying for the game we play. And it is unfair to increase membership fees for the game we play to pay for the one we don't. It make as much sense walking into a burger joint and being forced to pay the price of a combo meal to just get a single hamburger.

O_o your paying for ors... rs3 just an option for you should be happy jagex even did this service in the 1st place

now your asking the charge you less when they do update every month when they 1st said won't be doing many

This is understandable. If increasing the price means we can get more 07 devs/graphics artists, then please do it! Just please don't go over $10 usd/month.

It's already gone from $4.95 to $7.95, chances are it'll be *9.95 lol, i doubt they will go over $10 for the same reasons shops sell things ending in 99cents (to make it look cheaper)

Also.. If mat's info a while back is still accurate, we have 170k~ active users per month which is an additional $340,000 a month at a $2 increase or a little over 4m/year... I doubt we will see even as little as 10% of that $* put back into OSRS devs lol
