How ridiculous this really is. I really keep asking myself why am I going to pay more for a game I don't play. I recently came back because I needed something to kill hours of boredom cheaply, but with this? I'll honestly quit and with that money i can spend on a better game. They dont realize that $5 a month got rs to where it was at years ago.

Jagex please dont make this dumb decision and if you guys are really that money hungry, at least seperate the price of osrs and rs3. Raise the price and watch this game fall within this year.

Will the price of pre-paid membership cards increase as well?

Prepaid membership cards actually give you more days currently (essentially bonus day), with the increase you'll simply get the regular "month" package probably.

I still think this is foolish.

Especially since we can only have 1 character per paid subscription.

This game even at 10 bucks a month isn't up to par with some of the worst MMORPGs you pay for.

How do you merit a price increase? Because of the content you add? Good way to get new players to the game.

Unfortunately, inflation is a ***** :( One thing I would say is thank you Jagex for allowing me to continue paying what I am currently. Kudos for that.

WoW recently increased their price which is sad considering the price hasn't changed since launch. They forced all players into the new agreement.. but Jagex won't. It's exactly that kind of respect for long standing players that I like! I also like the idea of the 'Premier Club' too, which I hadn't actually heard of before.

This thread is obviously going to be 99% flame. Fair enough. I think a big part of this will be the actual £|$ increase which I imagined to be about .99 but you do have to look at the history so it could go either way!

Yeah, hate to say this, but their decision seems final. Posting about it now and disagreeing with the idea is merely just giving us all something to read. In other words, I doubt we can change their thoughts or incorporate any ideas in terms of payment options. As they've said, the money is going to the company and its employees, not the game (not saying it doesn't influence the game, seeing as they provide the updates to both Runescape and other things as well).

Hope this post at least clears up the confusion and raging at the idea of increased prices.

Don't give up my friends though, we got OSRS, who knows what else we together as a community can do to strive for what we desire :)

"They may gain people but i'd be walking out the door. My achievements and hard work would be undermined by the kid with daddy's wallet. If I want that I can play rs3 where at least I get a shot at freebie crap in the process thereby ensuring there's no value to begin with."

This is a game isn't not supposed to be work. If you value your achievements on RuneScape so much I fear you may be lacking achievements elsewhere in life.

I've been playing this game since 2002, and it looks like my Runescaping is soon to come to an end. I've been thinking about quitting for a while now, because it really seems like a lot of the content is unnecessary and doesn't add any fun to the game whatsoever. The "updates" seem like they're mindless put together and forced into the game in a pathetic attempt to provide to the "customers." Put together the lameness of the new content and a price increase, you will now lose even more players than you already have. Back in sometime around 2006, there would be 120,000+ people online - why? because they probably took the time to think about what they're adding to the game, and put themselves into the shoes of a Runescaper and think "if this was a part of the game, wouldn't it be awesome?"

I don't think Jagex realizes, but providing a steady flow of updates doesn't make customers happy - maintaining the game in a way that makes it enjoyable does. This game doesn't need to be updated every week. Once every two months would be MORE than enough, and would probably make it easier to come up with QUALITY content that people actually want.
