First, a bit of background. I am not aging gracefully and no longer have the reflexes required for modern bosses. This comes at a time when bosses seem to be the most regular type of content update. Even quests are usually focused on a boss now, and the new dungeons are all about the bosses.

I wait for things I enjoy like the much advertised, never delivered mining and smithing update as more and more bosses are added to the game.

I feel like the demographic to which I belong is no longer a group Jagex cares about.

That being said, over the years I have managed to accumulate a lot of rune coins which I have never used, and am not quite sure how I obtained so many.

As it looks like I may no longer continue my uninterrupted premier membership, I decided to use the rune coins to purchase Rune Pass.

I am not impressed. I probably will not be able to complete it. I will never get more than the 1 mil XP task completed (on a good non-work day.) The bug with the clue scroll on the second day really soured me to the entire concept.

I will not purchase rune coins just to buy a Rune Pass. I am glad I had enough Rune Coins to buy this one Pass to see first hand how it is something I do not enjoy.

If Rune Passes replace TH, I will be very upset. I do not purchase TH keys beyond what I get with the Premier Membership. I do enjoy those 3 TH keys though. They have become part of my morning ritual. I have a cup of coffee, take my medication, and use the keys. I think it is fun to get a few trinkets every morning to start the day. Who knows, one morning I may get that much longed for balloon resting animation.

If the Rune Pass is the future of RuneScape, I fear I might have found the straw that breaks the camel's back.

Dadizar, yes I fully understand the "free" part of TH is much better than that in RunePass. I have that concern too but fortunately I have a lot of gp so I can get bonds and then RC.

Not that I disagree with you, I just want to point out that you can progress if you have a lot of gp/bonds/rc without spending much efforts. Unfortunately, yes too if some poorer players think RunePass is actually more pay to win than TH. And luck play a big factor in TH so it is possible poor free players can get the best prizes in TH but hardly any in RunePass.

That's one negative I have on RunePass.

On the other hand, if you look pass the fact that some players may not be able to get good rewards from RunePass, it is still a viable option at this stage giving all factors remain the same.

So as far as the Gold path is concerned you will need 300 starfish to obtain level 30

10 starfish = 1 level, 10x30 = 300

Doing daily tasks is 10 starfish a day 5 for each, over the course of 14 days that is 140 starfish

There is also 2 weekly tasks which give 25 starfish each for a total of 50

So far just from daily/weekly tasks if done every day 300-140-50=110

So having just 110 starfish needing to be obtained through experience gain. That leaves less then 10 star fish a day to obtain the remaining levels. 10k =3, 100k=3, 250k=3. Of course higher tiers which get a tad steep to progress through 1m,5m and more.

So for a daily xp gain of 360k in any skills combined you will reach level 30 by the end of the promotion.

I do understand some players would have issues obtaining that. I personally don't find that to taxing as i get about a million xp daily doing my regular routine.

I figured i would just throw that out there for people unaware.

I do not look at your figures closely but I just take them as accurate for this discussion.

The problem to Average Joe is TH is free both in term of keys, gp and time spent but RunePass requires both real money/gp AND time spent to get the worthy items.

Besides, players get free TH keys every day and other daily/weekly/monthly sources + drop from mobs too.

Using your numbers, Average Joe probably still have to "work" a few hours and do a slayer/Reaper task a day for 2 weeks on top of the 400 RC out of the pocket charge for RunePass. The lowest levels their skills, the longer... or even not able to complete some tasks.

I can see some complaints from the free and flexible aspects from TH but force to spend ones (real money or RC/bonds/gp) + work ones in RunePass.

To Average Joes, RunePass is not very appealing. But to Busy Bees, RunePass is nice.

Isn't it funny how t90+ weapons and discontinued rares start crashing after runepass and osrs mobile beta update? Thinking...

How so? RunePass don't give T90 rewards and OSRS Mobile Beta is enjoyed by more skillers than combat oriented players.

Completely agree =)

Yes, and don't forget, to new players, 360k xp a day is like "to hell it goes RunePass" even if there is no RC charge to them. :D :D :D

This thread is the Kind of Feedback that I would want to see if I was an company. Though if an J mod did respond to it, this thread will focus on the J mods response and not on the thread. So I can see why no yellow posts are here ( yet).

Back to the thread though:

I have high hopes that Runepass will be able to eliminate TH promos altogether, but Mod Osborne already stated in the live stream that an TH promotion is coming next week.
"For this week additionally there are no Treasure Hunter promos because this is your 'promo'. This doesn't apply to the second week. Majority of activity will happen in the first week so we have stuff coming out for the second week."
( TL;DW 387 - Month Ahead - July). This part is going to literally kill anything Jagex has done to attempt to make people happy. No only will people have Runepass, but TH will throw in another Promo and further cement the faith of RS3. It seems that Jagex does not learn from its mistakes.

I had hopes that 2018 would have been a different year for RS. It seemed that content was getting better as the months went on. These days I am not so sure anymore about the state of the game. RS3 has become a cess pool of overpowered promotion with bad J mod decisions. I know that the " investors" may have a say in things, but OSRS is doing well on the model of no TH promotions of any kind. Is that because of RS3? I guess time will tell.

August I feel will be the month that RS has lowest population. Better Games will come out that people will go to. if Jagex does not change the direction of the ship, this ship will hit an MTX wall and sink into the abyss. Call me an Nay sayer all you want, but people are not happy and I can't blame them. Jagex has become the locust: Killing everything in their way.
Time to follow an trail of Treasure.

A Jmod actually have responded on page 7:

"Hey,

First of all, thanks for the critical feedback - It's really appreciated at this time.

While I cannot address any individual points I would like to take the time to say that we are reading all player feedback; both here and on Reddit and discussions are taking place internally.

Thanks,

Mod Pebble"

But frankly, what do you expect them to "address" at this stage? They said Ocean Bounty is an EXPERIMENT. Nothing is concrete at this stage. The only thing any Jmod said was no TH promotion the first week of Ocean Bounty, and added "no. it doesn't carry into the 2nd week". They are doing everything as they said. They said nothing else regarding TH whatsoever. So nothing there to address.

Don't worry about new games. Half baked "new" games coming in months won't make a dent into RS. Runescape has been said to be "dying" for at least the last 12 years, and Jagex is actually making more money, and membership count is recovering nicely too from the low 600k marks a few years ago. That's because players are getting used to MTX, particularly the new ones will actually find RS cheaper than most other similar games because they can earn most of the stuff in RS through Bonds. :) :) :)
