I agree, wholeheartedly. I have always supported Solomon's General Store, and cosmetic microtransactions. I don't have a problem with bonds, despite that being a way for players to buy GP from Jagex; let's be honest about the reason why players purchase bonds here. Sure, it provides the option for players who are dedicated and skill to not have to pay real world currency for their membership since other folks are willing to purchase the bond for the GP benefit.

The ability to buy bonus XP, or direct XP is arguably destructive content to the integrity of the game. Since Treasure Hunter has existed in this manner for such a period of time, the current community has gotten used to and tolerated it. That doesn't mean players support, or enjoy Treasure Hunter as a whole.

I don't have a problem with microtransactions remaining. I would be more willing to purchase cosmetic skins if Treasure Hunter was flat out removed. I wish Jagex would poll the community, and include the community in the conversation regarding the future of microtransactions rather than allowing a small group of J-Mods to dictate what promotions happen when TH has a vast impact on the economy, and game as a whole.

From Jagex's 2017 Financial Report, total revenue and percentage from MTX are:

TH £22.42 mil (49.72%)
Runecoins £2.48 (5.50%)
Bonds £20.19 (44.78%)

This is not the opinions of just "a few Jmods" but the voices from the players who actually paid Jagex in 2017.

Enough said. :)

I am not sure why somebody still gravebumped this thread. For the record, Jagex has ended the Runepass experiment 4 months ago and has no plan on their next experiment because they'll rather spend their energies on other great 2019 projects... or if there will be another Runepass experiment anytime later at all:

"Before we try doing RunePass again we need to put a little more time and thought into it. For the time being, at least, those energies are better invested elsewhere, and our focus is better placed on instead ensuring the delivery of great game updates for 2019."

Good that now we should all know not to expect another RunePass experiment while Jagex is working on other great projects.

We also see new TH and Runecoin events since then, for instance Bubbling Lamps running now. That's a way that time otherwise spent on the RunePass experiment could be used more productively on current content. :)

Nope. I'll rather have more Live Events (with or without MTX attached, both equally fine to me) and new TH updates than development time getting spent on RunePass.

RunePass was boring as hell, at least the last on was. There was also no way to earn RuneCoins, forcing me to either spend real money or bonds to compete it. :(

If we were going to have more RunePass "experiments" in the future, I could see same TH promotions with no refreshing ideas being run the entire year, and RunePass would replace Live Events like Till Death do us Apart. That would be no fun to the players.
