"Now, if you'll excuse me,"

The doctor grabbed his stack of runes on the table, and rubbed his hands together.

"Here goes everything..."

"Jonas, since your still here- on my call, flip the main switch- and whatever happens, don't flip it off unless I tell you to. If you turn it off prematurely you could create a half baked sample- useless for determining the composition of our universe."

"Riiight..."

"Now, on my go-"

The Doctor readied his palms, focusing on an arcane symbol drawing he had reading on the wall the main pipe of the machine pointed at. Concentrating deeply, he fourished his hand, as a miniscule portal opened up.

"Go!"

Jonas flipped the switch- and a enormous bolt of energy arced from the minuscule portal- barely big enough for an apple, yet pouring out tremendous energy- bending through the machine and electrocuting the clay mush Jonas had procured.

"What's it doing?"

"uploading." Said the doctor with a ***** grin.

Jonas stared at the clay mound as it began to tremble.

"Don't be frightened!"

Jonas's strange confusion at the goop was beginning to unfold into a horror much worse than fright. As he stared- a skull seemed to form from the globulous mass. It would have been a bearable sight, if not slightly discomforting, if the arms and horns didn't start appearing as well. As he watched in shock, a boney structure began to crawl up viewing jar it was being held it- pushing up against the walls for support.

"Doc.."

"what is it- oh my. It's... alive? how... I thought that... to endow a nonliving substance with life- but, its'- of course!"

Jonas stared back at him with something in between terror, confusion, and mild irritation. Perhaps a bit further from the last.

"Don't you see! its pulling life energy from the cosmos into that glob!"

"Whatever life it's taking- its demonic!"

Jonas screamed as the construct reared back, craning its jaw as its bones seemed to thicken- it seemed merely emaciated now, rather than strictly bone. Its horned skull grew flesh over- and its eyes began glowing.

"Whatever that -thing- is, I can't let it get into this world!"

Jonas flipped the switch, and the bolt flickered only momentarily. The creature jerked around- staring at down the pipe supplying it with life- reaching out.

"Jonas you fool you'll- amazing. It's sustaining the connection on its own! Of course.... It's only halfway through now- and you tried to interrupt it. The life of this being came with the energy, not the matter... a living being of pure energy! made incarnate into being right here! astonishing!"

Whatever it was- Jonas wanted no part in its arrival. He kicked the switch harder, trying to break it in a feeble attempt to wreck the machine. The switch merely flew off in response to his force. Jonas looked up- the construct seemed to be staring into its very sole now- its build going emaciated to fit before its eyes- muscles rippling about as skin attempted to stretch over itself. Jonas hurriedly grabbed the broken switch a slammed it up against the viewing glass.

"What are you doing! You could kill it!"

"That's the plan!"

"You fool! you'll ruin my entire life's work! I - I can't let you!"

Doc pushed him out of the way- but not before he got one last swing in- Jonas plummeted to the ground as the glass separating the Doctor from his creation shattered to bits. The Creature hyperventilated- the energy stopped arcing. Strangely, it began to feed on this world's energy- a human appearance set in- taking it away from its more arcane appearance.

"You- you changed it. You've altered its very core, Jonas. It's... It's... half what it was meant to be, half an imitation of us."

The glowering eyes of the creature glared at the Doctor. It was still starving for life.

With one swipe a bolt of energy arced from the Doctor- into the creature- with it passed not only life. But knowledge- understanding of the world the being was being thrust into. A concern for the inhabitants of its birthplace.

The Doctor collapsed.

"Finally..." wrasped the Doctor, "A worthy successor of my knowledge." He felt his mind go numb. " Don't stop. Take it. Before it goes on its own schedule. I have no use for this knowledge in the world I will go to..."

"Teacher." the being said- as it ripped away the last of the energy living inside of the doctor.

"You monster!"

The being looked up. It could be confused for a man now- were it not a foot taller than Jonas, who was a bulkier man- and the horns, curled close to its skull. Its eyes were white, pulsating with a strange energy, but it was still alive. It's face seemed to process the emotion Jonas was feeling just as he did. It looked at its hands.

"What.. is this?"

The Doctor's mind told him what world he was in- and the a basic overview of the way it worked- but even he didn't understand what he had created. The creature would have to decide for itself what it was. What it was meant to be.

Strange Old Man: Dig dig dig.... What's this? a thread, thought lost to time? Ah, but there are tales yet to be woven...

NPC Contact

*radio static noises*

Zanik: Hello? <Name>? Are you there?

Our ship sailed these poisonous wastes for weeks. The bandosians were getting irritable, and one of the ogres even started gnawing on a goblin's leg! But as we decided to dock, I asked them to take refuge in a nearby cave. They complained of course, especially the larger ogres who could barely fit their heads through the entrance. As I lead the way through with my vision deeper and deeper into the caves, I found something you wouldn't believe.

A mushroom! The goblin who's leg was half eaten lunged past me and immediately devoured it. As we pressed further into the caves we found edible mosses and other fungi, and I knew we could live here. I ordered the bandosians to craft makeshift torches from their clothes to help explore as we pushed on and that's when I heard it. Water.

As we rushed towards the sound the torches illuminated a massive cavern! Big enough to house a whole city! Well, a city for cave goblins at least. I remembered Grubfoot's prophecy, and knew this had to be it. The bandosians may never be content squatting in a cave, but I know I've finally found my home.

I don't know if this message will reach you, being miles underground and on a different plane of existence, but I just wanted to say thanks, for believing in me.

WE3 is coming up and that means it's time for Tuska!

My Greatest Shame (draft and behind the scenes)

DRAFT

-Saradomin arrives, is denied, wars to try to force them to love him

-Na**** leaves the party to join Saradomin at his castle to try to reason with him

-at that same time Na**x and his followers goad Tuska into attacking Saradomin's castle while he's inside in some sort of meeting

-Saradomin grows to large size to grapple with Tuska, but the force knocks him through his own castle.

-Saradomin looks back at the rubble and sees Na**** dead, buried in rubble, and feels guilty

-Saradomin devotes his remaining forces to stopping Tuska and defending the naragi. The naragi who sided with him died, as did the ones who did not as innocent bystanders.

-Finally with no army left, Saradomin flees in disgrace, resolving to never again try to force worship, and to put his people first.

BEHIND THE SCENES

The idea for this came to me thinking back to prior Tuska threads right when Kaigi's Journal came out. I had read Kaigi's Journal, the Guthixian Memories, Saradomin's lines on the naragi during Death of Chilvary, and The World Wakes, started sewing the pieces together, and concluded, in an incredibly tragic turn of events, that Saradomin may have been in peace talks with Na**** at the very moment Tuska was provoked into attacking Saradomin.

My Greatest Shame

The ruin I brought to the Naragi is my greatest shame. Civilisations have risen and fallen, and still the actions of my past haunt me. And so they should, for regret begets wisdom, and I have much to regret.

At first they welcomed me. The naragi were a curious species, eagerly listening to the tales of my great works on previous worlds. I said I had come to lead them to a new era, but their diviners insisted they had no need of leaders, that power was just something that disrupted the balance and inevitably lead to corruption. I was not welcome here any longer. But I would not be swayed. They needed me, whether they liked it or not.

The naragi were a peaceful race, and it was a simple matter to seize their capital with my human and icyene followers. It took some time, but with enough force, some naragi are already seeing my way. As they were mostly craftsmen rather than warriors, I set them to build my palace atop the hill, as a forward base on this new world.

A naragi visited my castle, introducing herself as Nak(c)igi. She explained that she was a refugee that had split from her group hoping to reason with me. I had known there were some that would not follow me, but I was so focused on the construction of my empire that I had been deaf to their plight. After hearing of the dozens of other refugee camps scattered about struggling to survive, I sympathized with her, and agreed to send them aid.

Our meeting was cut short though as I heard a rumble in the distance. Nak(c)igi seemed distraught, as if she knew what was coming. I saw through the window a gigantic boarcupine, spines crackling with electricity, charging right towards my castle! I grew myself and braced to grapple with the beast, but was knocked clear through the castle to the rocks below.

When I awoke, I was admist a series of ruined, looted tents. The refugee camp had been stripped bare, and everyone inside slaughtered. Was this the "new era" I had brought to this world? I climbed back amidst the remnants of my crown jewel, only to find Nak(c)igi buried under the rubble.

In that moment, I resolved to end this madness. I armed every naragi that would follow me, as well as all of my soldiers I had brought with me to this world, and made one final push to destroy this savage beast and save their world.

It was a massacre. The beast poured innumerable purple creatures from portals on its back, who ripped my ill-equipped naragi to shreds in seconds. The smaller creatures chanted, "Tus-ka! Tus-ka!" victoriously as the beast pinned me down and loomed closer to my head, drool dripping from its gaping maw. The beast, this "Tuska", was not going in for the kill, it was trying to grab my elder crown! In that moment, that I was sure would be my final, I knew I was the one who had lead this monster here.

I awaited my end, when another strange being wielding a lightning-crackling sword attacked Tuska from behind! More gods?! I took the opportunity to flee to my portal and leave this forsaken place before I brought any more destruction.

In my many centuries since then I have looked back on the remains of Naragun, my greatest shame. Perhaps this could have been avoided, had I put my people first. But musings and regret will never undo my mistake. As a mortal, I was taught it was both my successes and failures that shaped who I am today. Now, as an immortal, perhaps that is even more true.

Saradomin talking to the Adventurer about Hallowvale.

"Hallowvale. It was perfect, a beacon of hope in a time of endless war. The more adventurous of the Icyene found the New Domina regime to be far too restrictive. They chaffed, fought and were rebellious. Gielinor gave such an outlet for their frustrations and a far more comfortable existence than the hand to mouth nomadic New Domina lifestyle.

Then I heard whispers of a place to the east being founded. An independent group of Icyene had set out to make a place to call their own and set down roots. A place they called Hallowvale. I journeyed there in secret and observed them for a while. They had made friends with the locals and started to build a city with them, not as conquers but as partners. While my own effort to the west had been fraught with great difficulties.

They flourished.

There were hardships and shortages and my symbol still adorned their walls and architecture. More cultural than a religious observance, but they had hit a balance that worked between the philosophy and the realities of life in Hallowvale. I knew they did not strictly worship me, but they still followed the philosophy, so there was hope. And this presented an opportunity to settle things down on New Domina as well.

Those who chaffed under the strictures needed for life on New Domina..well, I helped them reach that far away place of Hallowvale. It was not an easy journey from Entrana and so I sent some of my more loyal, but open minded forces to escort them there as part of a garrison and to send artisans to live there and help out.

...Continued

"I know they only paid lip service to some things, but an understanding was quietly reached, an affiliation, a balance I had yet to achieve and was still striving for elsewhere. But contact and cooperation between the distance parties and my self was established, and maintained.

For 800 years this new civilisation grew and they saw off all comers, even Nex. It was glorious. It was perfect and exactly what I had sought to create on Gielnior, and I didn't even need to help much at all, only watch it all unfold. We were content, even if the wars of Gielinor still dragged on.

Then Zamorak, the traitor, and his. . . ally, Drakan, destroyed it all and corrupted everything that had been built. The destruction of the Wilderness was terrible and should never have happened, but that is not why I would see Zamorak laid low. What he and his ally did to Hallowvale, no that is not something I can easily let go of, for that there will be a reckoning.

Though I hear whispers of a movement to free Hallowvale and the Hallow (the name they called their people) by stealth, cunning and cooperation, where force has failed miserably. I see the hand of the Hallow in this. So there is yet hope.

I also see your hand in this, Adventurer. I wouldn't care which faction you support, go with my Blessing. Free the Hallow and free Hallowvale! Such a jewel should not be hidden by enteral night."

Very cool stuff. Just proofread a couple of the spelling errors. (of which I am guilty too, I apparently thought Saradomin had avianse rather than icyene followers! Fixed!)

And I don't know, while I think he'd approve of the icyene civilization's accomplishments, Saradomin strikes me as someone who wouldn't be convinced they could really thrive without him, he's kind of self-centered that way. When Guthix died, he was the first one back.

It definitely prods my interest in Hallowvale's backstory though. Surely in its heyday it was a thriving civilization of united human and icyene citizens. I wonder if they still had the sort of tension that was present in the god wars of icyene being better than humans for their longer lifespans.
